Because we don’t worship popes. The pope’s statement on something like this is fallible. He may be right that we should not fear Islam, however, we should certainly prevent its spread and seek its ultimate elimination from the world, for the reasons you cite.

Indeed. There is a lot of talk about “cafeteria Catholics”. Protestants are “cafeteria Christians”. They tend to bounce around from church to church. Hell, entire congregations tend to hop from convention to convention.
What I don’t get is the appeal that a charlatan like Jacob Aranza, in his drum-set studio-church, has to so many lapsed Catholics.

1. This was a statement not a question
2. We do worship Christ, as do Protestants
