You think that's what I said?

I was talking about following the sheriff on twitter

I don't even have a twitter (or even know where Polk County is off-hand), yet I've seen it.

Do you have any outstanding warrants and are planning on heading to an evacuation center?

Neither of those things would prevent me from seeing a twitter post.

My initial post was as follows: "Not sure how many people with warrants follow the sheriff but I doubt there are many."

So yeah, assuming the media didn't blast his tweet across the country, I doubt many would have even seen it, even you.

Well that's a nice hypothetical scenario.

I mean being a sex offender indicates that one has already faced punishment from the judicial system, correct?

Being a sex offender carries post-incarceration penalties/requirements which follow you the rest of your life.

Sex offenders/predators will not be allowed

Not sure this is constitutional, really. If a man has "paid his debts to society" he is supposed to have the rights of every other citizen.

(Not that I want a sex offender around my kids, but I am talking strictly from a legal standpoint).

If you don't want to argue, that's fine. I won't gloat about it.

The repercussions of being a sexual offender don't stop when you get out of jail. They keep your picture and perp sheet and address on the state and national sex offender registry websites for your neighbors and perspective employers to see. They can tell you where you can and can't live. Your driver's license can be marked "SEX OFFENDER."

I was thinking the same thing so I looked up Polk County hurricane shelters and all but about 2 of them are at middle schools or high schools. It's probably a safe be to say if you are a registered sex offender that you can't be on school property.

However, depending on the severity of the crime I don't think all sex offenders should be disallowed.

Seems like more of an attempt to keep criminals away from others seeking shelter than to generate a bunch of arrests.

Exactly.

If anything, he helped the people with warrants avoid arrest.

The whining is silly.

Why are we focused on weeding out just the sex offenders?

What strange construct does the left have now where they think having a warrant and ending up in a place where a lot of police are won't result in getting arrested?

The monster the registry has become is worthy of its own thread. It needs to be seriously talked about but never will because of the subject matter.

Yeah, instead they'll stay out and loot/vandalize in the chaos. Great plan.

Ehhh the people that are going to loot will be doing that anyway.
