If a GOP Representative says he is fighting for me in DC is he fighting against his own party since they control Congress?

Just another empty election slogan that is just vague enough for the listener to add any adversary he wants.

Tricks.

This.

What they mean is that they will represent you in Congress by authoring and voting for bills that support the interests of your state. It's basically what they are paid to do, but they say "fighting for you" to add some emotion to it. It's supposed to make you feel like you're a weak victim and he/she is your protector and advocate.

It supposed to mean he will fight for the community he represents in the house or the state he represents in the senate, but Americans are so ignorant of how the government is supposed to work and the two party system is so ingrained into DC that it largely means nothing other than he will fight for Republican values against democrats but it has nothing to do with you.

Well the Democrats are fighting for non-citizens at your expense so if the GOP is against that it’s a win for you.

It is called a glittering generality. Sounds good, but what exactly does it mean?
