Safeway existed prior to 86.
But apparently THAT Safeway did not.
Just my deduction based on a 15 minute internet search.

This concept is pretty dumb, and rather worthless.
I bagged groceries at the Bocage Piggly Wiggly in the late 1980s (and/or early 90s).
Then a manager there named Calvin bought the place (I assume) and has run it for a couple decades. Famously good chicken salad, btw.
So today, if I tell someone as we drive by that I used to bag groceries at Calvin's Market, technically I am wrong.. but it is almost a distinction without a difference.

Apparently that site was an Albertson's in 1982. Eventually a Safeway opened at that location.
No idea of when or how that happened.

I don't know... I want it to be true but I'd figure as much as this had been headline news, someone would have figured out if that Safeway hadn't even been built yet...

I’m sure she left herself some wiggle room. She will come back and say, “I meant the building where the Safeway was located”... she knows how to lie. Give just enough detail so that when the truth is revealed, you can change the story so that the outright lie, can be explained.

Sure. But if you moved away two to three years before it became Calvin’s and you were telling the story to someone while not being physically in front of the store you would not refer to it as Calvin’s
