Suppose Mr. Fields had something in his system that caused his untimely death. Would this fact change the narrative?

No, the cop needs to rot in jail.

Suppose Mr. Fields had been white, would you even know it happened? Would the ones voicing frustration about police brutality be on social media voicing frustration?

No, they wouldn’t. Just like no one cared about the 19 year old white guy, that was shot 2 times in the chest...while on his knees, in a gas station parking lot...by a black cop. That happened 3 weeks before Michael Brown and not one peep.

Nope, even if it was shown he was going to die in the next 30 minutes, the cops need to be charged and tried...

No. If an idiot had not had his knee on his neck, they may have picked up on another physical problem that could have been treated. The policeman killed him and he needs to pay with his life.

I wouldn't go as far as the pay with his life part until you can prove he meant to kill him. There is a difference between racism and dumbfrickery. There is more than enough evidence of the latter but until we get Professor X to read his mind there isn't enough evidence of the former. He should go to prison for 10 to 20 on manslaughter or negligent homicide charges though. However why don't we wait until we see what the end result of the trial is before we go Rodney King on Minneapolis? Let's wait until we find out whether or not justice gets served before we play vigilante.

There are two sets of people acting up in Minnesota. Those who sincerely what a problem solved and those that just want to use the problem as an excuse to frick shite up. The people in the first group need to tell the people in the second group to knock it off because their actions are only going to make it more difficult to even discuss the problem never mind solve it. Also (and I know this will not happen but if they actually did their job it would) the media should damn well know which group someone is a part of before they let them blab away when they cover this.

We've needed reforms in law enforcement for a long time now. Most of us just dont understand why you need to use that kind of force on an unarmed citizen that was wanted for questioning over a non-violent crime.

and this goes way beyond the race issue. white libertarians have always warned about the legal monopoly of violence the State has to use against the citizens.

just read rothbard's Anatomy of the State.

I vote we disband all police forces and go back to the Wild West. It would certainly be simpler times.

You mean Mr Floyd?

Kind of tricky tbh. Even if drugs were to be the cause of death, no human should ever be treated the way George Floyd was. Pinning down someone by the neck after you already handcuffed him is barbaric and heinous. Police need to be demilitarized and trained better when it comes to approaching people. They also need to carry functioning body cams at all times and their video independently reviewed in order to improve customer service.

It's mostly police Unions. They are the ones who always get shitty cops out of trouble and fight back against policies that patrol police behavior.

Just look at how police labor unions fought so hard against police body cams.

it didn't turn this way until after the original officer told the guy he was under arrest for the counterfeit bills and then the dude started flopping around and especially physically resisted getting into the police car

oh... and started complaining about shortness of breath while still standing after all that

When it was proven that Mike Brown was shot from the front not in the back, and it also showed he was learning towards or "charging" the officer, it didn't change the narrative...
