Several U.S. military leaders have advised Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that prolonging large-scale operations against Iran is unsustainable and risks weakening their ability to confront threats elsewhere, including the U.S. homeland.
Of course it weakens our ability to conduct operations elsewhere. Of course it weakens our ability to defend the homeland. He’ll, just having troops deployed to Germany and Korea weakens our ability to defend the homeland. If we wanted to only prepare for conflict with China we’d have our whole fleet in the pacific. If we only wanted to prepare for a war with Russia we’d have our whole army in Europe. If we wanted to only to defend the homeland we’d have everyone here in the states.
The military exists to fight wars. Right now the war is in Iran. That headline is sensationalist bullshite.

Classic “I have nothing of substance to add so I’ll insult the poster” technique. Nice

I wouldn’t chose Vipers because they have they don’t really have much on station time. The idea is to interdict launch sites once they’re identified. Loitering bombers or strike eagles probably provide the best option. But you’re the fighter pilot, why don’t you tell me? Or do you just want to play 20 questions so you can avoid actually saying anything?
You just dig yourself deeper into a hole.
At first, I thought you were perhaps a 747 pilot. But you don't have the demeanor for that.
Then I just assumed you were a sympathizer, a leftist posing as on the right.
Now I believe you know your stuff.
It's all been picked up (below)... and the reason you play deflect and try to query others for info.
Last line of defense systems such as CRAM's and Phalanx are awesome for missile defense. Do you have evidence or experience telling us they can take down those little Iranian drones (you love to champion), which may not have radar signatures? Yes, again you champion them... right out of Wikipedia.
Please tell us how many hours a week you spend gaming?

The fact you took it as an insult proves I'm right.

CRAM and Phalanx are the same thing essentially for one. And yes, I’ve personally seen them shoot done dozens of incoming rocket rounds. They’ve been shooting down shahed and similar drones since the start of the war.
Also I’ve never heard of that game. I’m not much of a gamer.

To be clear, I don’t think most Americans care what happens in Iran outside of these parameters:
-oil costs don’t go up
-Americans don’t die
-no nukes are used
The only positive outcomes I can see or would care about are:
-removal of Iran as a sponsor of terrorism and aggressive Islam
-elimination of the nuclear threat
-ensuring shipping can traverse the strait safely
-removing access to their oil for China as we saw in Venezuela
The only reason anyone is even talking about the current situation is that oil is going up globally because we can’t flow oil through the strait due to missiles and mines.
If Trump can get the oil flowing the situation can go on indefinitely until the IRGC folds.
Until he gets the oil flowing we are racing the clock as strategic reserves plummet before a global economic downturn becomes inevitable.
But CNN telling me something is going well is like Hillary Clinton telling me something is going well. I think they’re completely opposed to what I would want to see happen to such a degree that their endorsement of something is a warning sign rather than a positive indication that an outcome that is good for the AF/MAGA right is occurring because to them something good for the right is a bad thing.
So I don’t know if the IRGC is in trouble because I don’t trust the media or the Israelis or the CIA to be honest brokers of information.
I do know that if the oil doesn’t turn back on soon we will be looking at a massive global economic issue and very likely losses in the midterms.

I asked Grok
Prompt: Are tankers transiting the strait of Hormuz
quote:
Yes — some oil tankers are still going through, but volume is a small fraction of normal. As of Aug 30–31, 2026 (about day 183 of the disruption that began late February), the strait is not physically closed. Ships can and do transit. Visible AIS traffic, however, is typically about 5 vessels a day over the latest weekend and has been running in the single digits to low teens most days, versus a pre-crisis baseline of roughly 70–130 commercial ships per day...
So, I don't get it.
Yesterday, you stated no tankers, only 'shuttles' (WTFTI).
Now you are using AI to tell everyone you were wrong?
BTW, I don't believe the response you posted was in good faith anyway... and that is was edited in some fashion by you. But you do you, Boo.

Feel free to go to Grok and use the prompt

Yet, there will still be a few idiots on this board that insist Iran is winning.

Cargo. In fact prior to the outbreak of the war I was doing regular flights to Kuwait, Saudi and Bahrain on behalf of the US military. I’ve done several trips to RAF Fairford dropping bombs off for the Air Force. We still do regular flights to Poland bringing munitions for the Ukrainians.

Did you do a Grok search about tankers transiting the strait?
Posted on 8/31/26 at 8:54 am to Captain Rumbeard

They don't have control of the straits you fricking retard.
They dont have control, control would be preventing our use and shipping use while being able to use it themselves.
We can prevent their use and send our naval vessels through but absent convoys cant protect shipping so we don't have full control either.
So I think the most accurate description is to say that they can contest access to the strait but dont control it.
We have limited control of the strait but it requires significant resources to maintain it.
