That’s what the Navy is for. The majority of the attacks are happening in the strait.

Also denying the enemy key terrain, but yeah. We put troops at risk all the time.

What ships? What systems will we use?

What grounds forces name the units give me some numbers to digest.

Destroyers mostly. Cruising up and down the coast with standard missiles to shoot down ballistic missiles. I don’t know exactly how many. Probably a dozen. Obviously constant ISR and CAS on station. Bombers on station to prosecute targets of opportunity that pop up.

Marines and Rangers would probably the best bet to take the islands with long range heliborne assaults. Initial estimates? About 2K ground troops to take Larak and Greater Tunb. Maybe more(I’m not privy to the enemy’s disposition on those islands) Then of course follow on forces with the air defenses and probably some guys to refuel and rearm helicopters.

Naw you are deploying about 20% of the destroyers and untold numbers of some sort of bombers hanging on tankers waiting for a target or something.

I forgot the byproduct of using guys in hescos setup as targets

Those assets exist to fight wars

Well they’re the most important part of the plan with the most dangerous mission. I wouldn’t forget about them.

They don’t all have to be bombers. We have strike eagles, Hornets, Vipers.

Are you under the impression that there wasn’t constant assets in the air during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

CNN can only deny reality for so long in face of hard evidence.

They have to try to salvage some low level of credibility.

You have no idea what you are talking about. This is already being done without ships in the strait.

Again, there is no need. They have and are sending ships through as we speak. No need in putting ground troops in harms way. Have you ever served in a forward position son? If not I suggest you stand post and defend something. Either way, I do not give a damn what YOU think should be done. Apparently our military agrees with me.

He apparently wants to move assets onto Iranian soil thus exposing the airbases to further attacks

While dropping Marines and Army guys as fodder on islands
