Pfizer/BioNtech developed their candidate vaccine without government assistance and recently started a phase 2/phase 3 trial, which they also will self-fund. The two have already invested billions of dollars in their work, according to a Pfizer spokesman.
From your article. What they did receive was a contract to purchase doses if the vaccine was Dev and approved.

No wonder they are scrambling to make this an annual booster and working to vaccinate low risk children.
I wonder how many millions of that will end up back in the pockets of the dem politicos pushing this vaccine like the world is ending?

Don't know. I had read in the past in other articles that Pfizer was not taking the federal money...hence leftists said Trump couldn't take credit for that vaccine.

I hold many "opposing' views in balance. An example being an advocate for food quality and responsibly caring for the environment while acknowledging that "climate change" is fear mongering
What you do is ascribed sinister motives to things you disagree with and nothing but positive motives to those things you agree with.

At about double the cost of the other vaccines, guaranteed whether needed or not AND their contract did not have the intellectual property protections the other contracts had...
I am not against profit but I do question private profits when it is heavily subsidized by the taxpayer...
Are you suggesting they should not be questioned, especially given all the frickery that has surrounded Covid?

I own shares of PFE so I'm happy.

Profit Shaming? They developed a vaccine at their own risk and put it to market. They have a right to a return on their risk and work.
After all we are not communists.

Exactly. Pretending like government doesn't have a hand in this with the threats and cajoling from federal, state, and local governments is dumb. But just the kind of capitalism I expect from my corporatist overlords.

Once again, pharmaceutical companies have gross protections from the government that minimize their risk. While we're not communists, we are socialists. Pretending that's free market is dumb.

I’m suggesting you were wrong and didn’t read the article you linked.

right. LOl we had a never before seen global lockdown. It was the most expansive and magnificent case of fear pron in human history. Governments were changing laws to race these vaccines through so they could buy billions in supply.
Big Pharma didn't race this vaccine to market in a handful of months out of a sense of charity.

That’s what an anti-cap like thine would say, that’s why it’s an anti-cap rant. Am I taking crazy pills?

Out of all of the billions and trillions spent, that's 3.5 billion well spent and well earned.

That they would make sizable R&D investments, but have no product to market.
