Precisely.

Most arent happy with the system but it is what it is.

The anger toward a CEO is terribly misplaced and based solely on emotions.

But you dont want that. You feel entitled.

I am perfectly fine with that. Unfrick the entire healthcare industry and we can all go that route, as it should be.

My wife went 7 years without health insurance before we got married because of her being a small business owner. She makes solid money but it’s a ludicrous amount of money to insure yourself.

So she just paid cash for any medical visits.

Would you prefer a govt takeover or single payer system?

Nah. We're here because we expect "someone else" to pay our bills.

I’m as big a personal accountability guy as anyone but your take on insurance companies is very odd.

The insurance companies sell a “product” and gladly take the money for it. Then when it comes time to pay, UHC denied at twice the industry rate. Seems they don’t want to be accountable to deliver on the contract. They seem to rely on unfair practices because they didn’t charge enough to deliver on their contract and still make the desired profit.

Does that mean the CEO should die? Not something I would do but to act like the man and his family didn’t benefit from his direction of avoiding responsibility is disingenuous at best.

I went longer than that. It is pretty easy to pay as you go when you are healthy and don't have a laundry list of pills to be taken every month. It is playing with fire as you get older, and it could easily bankrupt you.
I found that the CoC in my town had a program for self employed to get group health and it wasn't terrible, until obamacare came along.

Yes, you are.

Sorry, not sorry.

I never said you needed to be sorry.

Populism isn't all bad. Just mostly. And usually not because of what it believes, but because of what it fails to consider.

quote:

If being "populist" means being tired of and adversarial to elitist assholes who view and treat me, you and other citizens as worthless, disposable and acceptable collateral damage to further their individual aspirations of power and financial gain?

Surely with a little thought you can see that your description is the same one that BLM uses, right? And feminists. And the LGBTQ community. And Climate Change activists. And ANTIFA. And communists, socialists, etc.

The only difference is that they define "Them" differently than you do in many cases.

In the feminists "Us vs Them" model, "Them" is the patriarchy.

For BLM it's white people.

Etc.

Your analysis is every bit as mindless and fueled by insectile, hive-mind anger.

The only difference is the group you put in the blank "Them" = ___________.

I would prefer to get gov and insurance completely out of the equation. Health insurance costs would plummet.

It also helps to have some well placed people in congress to help out when people get too upset at the current state of health insurance With enough lobbying dollars and political support you can protect even the most corrupt of industries and call it free market capitalism and democracy, regardless of popular support.

Given up? As an aside, i was curious about your level of passion for this individual. It had nothing to do with our main discussion (as you pointed out). I can walk and chew gum.

Denied claims are not in and of themselves a bad thing

The health care sector has a massive (and I mean massive) problem with over billing and outright fraudulent claims

I find it interesting that the same people who think insurance companies shouldn’t scrutinize claims are the same people who complain about high monthly premiums.

It’s widely understood that auto insurance premiums go up every year because of corrupt PI attorneys and chiropractors gaming the system with bs “medical injures” from fender benders

Yet people don’t want to admit it happens in health care too

Question for those of you who don’t feel sympathy for the murdered father and husband:

If someone shot and killed the NHS secretary in the UK or the Canadian health secretary because their dying loved one is on a waiting list for specialist care, would you have sympathy for the health secretary?
