She had the entire media in her side.
She is unassailable for her House seat.
She had solid party discipline (as the Dems always do).
Time was on her side.

i mean all she really did was win a game of chicken
not a whole lot of negotiating happened, and since trump's deal-art seems to entirely consist of playing chicken, they'll be playing it again soon

So if Trump declares an emergency and builds the wall what does Pelosi get? A Pyrrhic victory with the far left?

He made it easy for her by bending his policy to a couple of right-wing carnival barkers like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. The more he plays to that contingent, the less he'll accomplish.

That's ok, I'll get the last laugh when she's burning in hell.

No she didn’t, Trump caved to the plight of those affected by the shutdown...
Yall still don't get it. Trump didn't want their deals. He is just showing the public that the dims care more about illegals than they do Americans.
Caved!!! Ha. Why can't yall understand that it is better for Trump to APPEAR more willing to break grid lock than the dims. Get credit for getting gov. employees their paychecks, as well as a shite ton of people that aren't gov't workers but their pay checks depend on the govt being open.
Trump doesn't want the dims to get any credit for the wall in any way shape or form. Why the hell would he want that and have to settle for a fraction of the money needed when he can get all of the money he needs an they get no credit period.

the plight of those affected by the shutdown
Trump doesn't give a whit about those who couldn't make mortgage or utility payments, those who had to choose between food or medicines, those who opted for pet foods over what's suitable for human consumption.
Trump didn't care a whit about the ancillary effects of the shutdown on communities that had to shutter businesses impacted by government workers not being paid.
Trump didn't rebuke Wilbur Ross when he wondered why federal workers didn't apply for LOW INTEREST LOANS! Now how tone deaf and insensitive is that!
If Trump "caved", it was only because of the outrage welling up in Mainstream America, and the real threat certain areas of the shutdown (such as air traffic control officers and TSA agents not showing up for work) posed on our economy, AND national security. Heck, even the BORDER was even less secure!!!

Do you think it was just a coincidence that Trump threw in the towel the right after the Senate vote?
If you think Trump was concerned with getting gov't employees their paychecks you are sadly mistaken. Trump is incapable of sympathy or empathy.
He's more concerned that his hair doesn't get wet.

That is not true.
Your post has no substance.
More lies from a lib.
You say he has no concern with the gov't employees and yet Trump is the one that showed concern when every he spoke and proved it through his actions.
On the other hand the dims said frick the gov't workers, lets not even negotiate. I think I will take a vacation in Hawaii, and leave the country to supposedly (lie) to shake the hands of the Military who basically despise her.
Typical fake news bullshite. Lie lie lie and hope others will believe it. You and your post suck.

Every time he spoke??? Every time he spoke Trump repeatedly claimed that Federal employees supported the shut down. That's not showing his concern for them. Where is it that you saw that Trump spoke and expressed concern for govt employees. Come on Mr. Facts, facts, facts -- let see it -- post a link. And not when he was talking about them after the shutdown was announced to be over.
Proved it with his actions ??? What actions were those. His offer of a compromise?? Trump's offer of a "compromise" was a smoke screen.
Trump said that his "compromise" offered temporary 3 year extension of DACA -- but forgot to mention that it also required DACA kids to re-register under more stringent requirements than before. It would have resulted in fewer being able to qualify for DACA going forward.
Trump said his compromise also included allowing Central American minors to apply for amnesty in their home counties. But it wasn't allowing them to apply for amnesty in their own country, it was requiring them to do so. If they didn't apply in their home country, they would automatically be denied amnesty if they applied in the U.S. Another item in Trump's compromise offer that was designed to reduce the number of amnesty filers. It was certainly not a concession on his part.
Also, in the same breath where Trump was making his "compromise" offer, Trump added a laundry list (in the middle of the negotiation) of more demands he wanted on his side over and above the $5.7 billion for the wall, including this list:
$675 million for increased drug detection technology at ports of entry
$130 million for canine units, training and more personnel
$800 million in humanitarian assistance
$782 million for 2,750 additional border agents
$563 million to hire 75 new immigration judges.
Trump added almost $3 billion to his original demand for funding in his "compromise" offer.
quote]On the other hand the dims said frick the gov't workers, lets not even negotiate.[/quote]
Trump's "compromise" offer was a disingenuous bait and switch. That's why the democrats didn't respond. No one with any negotiation experience would respond to that kind of bad faith offer.
