how many charges are what they all do but only call out people when the Bush's dictate?
the commentators have seemed to have concluded that he is guilty.

what are the local politics on this? How many of those voting are establishment Bushites?
It’s tough to handicap, but consider this:
Paxton's future lies in the hands of 18 Republican senators—half of whom would need to vote with all of the chamber's 12 Democrats for the attorney general to be convicted/removed.
Behind closed doors, “experts” and former lawmakers say those Republican members have to consider their future careers as lawmakers. During the trial, witnesses have been asked if they are a "RINO" and to rank their conservatism on a scale of one through 10.
My gut says a majority of Republican senators aren’t strong enough to vote to impeach him—even if they believe it merited—because they’re afraid of the wrath of the most conservative members of the Texas GOP.
We’ll see. I can say that Rep. Jeff Leach—a total snake and the TEXIT movement’s biggest nemesis—likely drove a nail in his career coffin yesterday, when he stood up and encouraged the Senate to vote “yay” on impeachment. Leach all but guaranteed he’ll be voted out in the next election, and I’ll raise a glass high when it happens.

Why are the commentators saying that Dan Patrick basically controls the Senate?
Posted on 9/16/23 at 10:57 am to Hooligan's Ghost
exactly, and the key and double secret password to the establishment local DC club. of course, also with a lake house & car.

I’m assuming they’re speaking generally.
Lieutenant Governor is the most powerful office in Texas—stronger than Governor.
The Texas Constitution set it up that way.

They said that the Senators know that if they ever want anything passed it has to go through Patrick. The majority of the Republicans are allied with Patrick. They have the same donors and whatnot.

He’s correct.
The lieutenant governor appoints all committee chairs in the Senate, determines where all bills are sent, and decides on the timing.
It’s an extremely powerful position.
Those lawmakers don’t want to be rendered impotent in the future by burning bridges now.

This was the guy that had the last 10mins of the prosecutions time right? What part of TX does he rep?
Also, was he apart of the prosecution team the whole time or just added to give his "I'm one of his oldest friends and I'm against him" soap box speech? He speech was like a family members during sentencing type not what should have been done during closing arguments. I guess what bugsby was trying to say when he objected. Why it kind of sux they didn't have time to speak after the prosecution as that's the last thought left in the Senate jurors minds.

So Patrick is thought to be more friendly to Paxton then the House leader choad dude?
I guess if the lt Gvnr is more powerful than Gvnr in TX then Patrick shouldn't want to be Gvnr, so ok with Paxton being a potential Gvnr option down the road.

Hey OP...if you can keep the OP updated as votes come in so we don't have to try to find it in the thread.
I'm assuming they are taking each vote individually so may take time.

Isn't Collin county moving Dem? I remember seeing a map on here of the US showing the dominate race in each county and that one was the only one in TX, and one of very few in the nation, that was Asian do dominate.

Will do.
Trying to watch the damn game too.
I shouldn't have volunteered for this.

The first one just hit the may threshold right?

Not exactly.
He is on the House Board of Managers, who were charged with handling the prosecution of Paxton.
He’s not part of the legal team.
