You are a logically inconsistent and confused fellow.

It just somehow magically worked...until a bunch of chicken littles decide they need security more than freedom.

I mean, if you're going to sit in judgement about God and an entire religion, I would expect you to have more to support that judgement than merely repeating the same claim over and over again without justificaiton.
I'm basically done with you. I told you previously I had no real desire to debate you. I entertained your claims.
quote:Because you aren't supporting your claims, you are not demonstrating that you are doing anything different than what you are claiming I'm doing. When you criticize and condemn God based on an unknown standard of morality, it seems to me that you are fighting "dogma" with "dogma", yourself, yet I've been open with what I believe and why, and you have not.
You are stuck on dogma and it ends up causing you to support and say some really ***** things.
From what I can tell, you are equally stuck on dogma, and it's causing you to support and say some really irrational things.
quote:This is another claim that is not supported by reason. You aren't saying how I'm doing the same thing as the leftist, but are only asserting that I am. You are not justifying and grounding your claim in anything at all, so all I can assume is that you have a different opinion on the matter, and you know what they say about opinions.
Like when leftists accept the dogma that men can be women. Then after that they have to start accepting and believing all this other crazy shite to the point of they can't even define what a woman is anymore etc.
You are no different. You have the dogma that the bible is the word of God and as a result you have to start believing a bunch of stupid shite on top of it. You are so fricked up that you actually try to justify billions of people, including babies to burn in hell for all of eternity with 0 chance of any other end.
Even your claim that I have to believe "stupid" things because of the Bible is all opinion. What I believe is not stupid from my perspective, but is grounded in objective truth claims. Instead of arguing against those claims using reason and a logical defense of your position, you just keep repeating words like "stupid" and "evil". I want you to explain exactly why you think they are stupid, not just assert that they are.
quote:In order to admit it, I would have to agree with you that it does contradict itself. I don't believe it does. A contradiction is a logical objection where one truth claim is necessarily incompatible with another truth claim. What you are saying about Genesis doesn't fit that description at all. If I was a betting man, I'd wager you haven't even studied that claim very much. You just heard it somewhere and are throwing it out there as a lazy form of support for your claim.
You can't even acknowledge the book of Genisis contradicts itself and that God lies because it threatens your dogma. 1st chapter of the bible. Because if you admit that, it threatens it.
quote:Again, that's just your opinion. You can think what you want, but you are being intellectually dishonest by spending so much of your time pretending to argue but not actually putting forth arguments. You calling me names doesn't change the truth.
I think you are a piece of shite, and you've taken up more of my time than you deserved.
You are lost. You have rejected your creator, and you need to put your trust in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, who took on a human nature, obeyed the law perfectly, and died as sinners death to pay the penalty for sin that you owe, so that you can be forgiven if you put your trust in Him. Turn from your sin today and be forgiven. You have no one to blame but yourself if you do not.

I'm not saying anything about God, I'm talking about the things you claim to be about God.
You claim that God creates people and then sends them to hell for eternity with 0 chance of a different ending. Billions of people - created for the ultimate purpose of being tortured in hell. Die as a baby? Doesn't matter, straight to hell.
Why? Because of a crime you claim is so bad they are born with no memory of it ever happening and only have to find out because you told them it said so in a book.
Are you ultimately just asking me what authority I have blindly accepted in order to apply common fricking decency? Do you have any kids? Does your kid do something to defy you and then you are just like - punished forever! frick no, because that is just straight evil.
Punishment is done for the purpose of learning. Things which you aren't even remotely interested in because "Jesus died for me, so I'm immune, but frick that baby over there because his parents weren't Christian's".
When you religion is making you such a piece of shite, maybe it's your religion and maybe it just takes an ounce of decency to acknowledge it.

You are so stuck in just blindly accepting an authority that you assume everyone else must do the same.

I demonstrated how dogma leads to ignorance and a loss of reality for those subscribed to it.
You've demonstrated you think creating billions of people just so you can torture them for eternity is what you think is "Just".
quote:

As I said, you can't even admit it.
The order of creation in Genesis isn't even the same. Probably because it's actually 2 different creation stories.
On top of that, neither of them is actually correct anyway.
There is also the fact God tells Adam he will die if he eats the fruit, he does not.
By study I'm sure you mean "Do you know about the multiple excuses people make for these things?"

Back to citing the marketing pamphlet.
God has never once told me to do these things. Only you and your satanic cult.

The fact that you call what I believe a "delusion" proves my point. You have beliefs about what is and is not true, and yet you are not justifying those claims. You are calling the Christian faith a "delusion", but haven't proven that it is. You've just spouted your angry opinions like a scorned lover who will do anything to get back at the man who treated her badly.
You belong to a satanic cult that mixed pagan religions to worship an innocent man/being/God/whatever that represents the truth and doing things right as a way to your own salvation.
You talk about how other people deserve to go to hell for their sins, even innocent babies, but at the same time consider yourself not deserving because you worship the death of the innocent. Even though you are guilty, the same of them and likely more.
You call this "Just" only because you believe yourself to be saved as a result, not because it's based on anything that would otherwise be considered justice. That is delusion.
In fact, you would be outraged if these same acts of "Justice" were applied on earth.
I see absolutely NO connection between you and Jesus at all. You are closer to a Pharisee. Especially since you and them agree that the death of Jesus is required to save yourselves.
quote:
You've claimed things about morality, such as that you believe the Christian God is evil. You just haven't justified what few claims you've actually made.
You claim he is evil; I just pointed it out. I would never make such terrible claims about God.
quote:
We certainly are spinning in circles, because you keep making groundless assertions and I keep asking you to ground them. You can't (or won't), and then make more groundless assertions. You are not arguing; you're emoting.
I agree that your lack of argumentation has reduced this conversation to silliness. You have no rational justification for what you are saying.
You mean I'm not making up claims about God in return?
When a vacuum cleaner salesman comes to my door, if I decide to entertain his pitch, I'm not going to try to sell him my vacuum cleaner. I'm going to listen to what he says and then I'll decline and tell him what I thought was true or bullshite.

I'm not saying anything about God, I'm talking about the things you claim to be about God.
quote:That's not my claim, but God's claim, as revealed in His revelation. He said to Moses, "I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy" (Ex. 33:19), which Paul later quotes in relation to creating some people for mercy and some for destruction.
You claim that God creates people and then sends them to hell for eternity with 0 chance of a different ending. Billions of people - created for the ultimate purpose of being tortured in hell. Die as a baby? Doesn't matter, straight to hell.
quote:Again, God says in His word that no one is without excuse, because all are born with a sinful nature; it's who they are. If they have not actively sinned yet, they will or would, because that's who they are by nature. And it's not just a characteristic of their being, but it also describes what they want. No one is sinning against their will, but are sinning according to their will. In other words, we do what we want, and we get the punishment for it. And since no one deserved a pardon, God doesn't owe it to anyone. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not fair.
Why? Because of a crime you claim is so bad they are born with no memory of it ever happening and only have to find out because you told them it said so in a book.
I've spent a lot of time explaining these concepts to you, which you don't seem to have a response to, other than that you don't like them.
quote:I think you're now sharing what your standard is: "common...decency". That's an arbitrary and subjective standard. What is "decent" in one society may not be considered such in another. So yes, I'm asking you now why "common decency" is your standard.
Are you ultimately just asking me what authority I have blindly accepted in order to apply common fricking decency?
quote:First, "common decency" doesn't provide a good standard for what is and isn't evil, so you need to chill with using that word unless you want to qualify it with something like, "according to my personal opinion" (which is all you've got, apparently).
Do you have any kids? Does your kid do something to defy you and then you are just like - punished forever! frick no, because that is just straight evil.
Second, no, I don't punish my children forever. I don't because I can't, and such a punishment wouldn't fit the crime.
Why can God punish someone forever? Because an infinite guilt requires an infinite punishment. Sinning against an infinitely holy God accrues a guilt so severe that no one can work it off or pay it back. It's like destroying a museum with priceless art: you can't garnish enough wages to pay back what you've destroyed. That's why Jesus died. Only the God-man had an infinite value that could pay the infinite debt we owe.
quote:Where did you get this concept, that punishment is only for learning? I believe that justice is about getting what you deserve under the law, not about learning. We have schools for learning. We have prisons for justice.
Punishment is done for the purpose of learning. Things which you aren't even remotely interested in because "Jesus died for me, so I'm immune, but frick that baby over there because his parents weren't Christian's".
Also, you are emoting again. You aren't providing an argument.
quote:I'm denying that there's anything unjust or immoral about my religion. You have yet to answer me. You've just asserted that I'm evil and my God is evil and haven't justified why, except perhaps now with "common decency" (which you aren't defining, nor justifying why it is an authoritative moral standard).
When you religion is making you such a piece of shite, maybe it's your religion and maybe it just takes an ounce of decency to acknowledge it.
quote:First, it's not blind. There are many reasons why I believe what I believe.
You are so stuck in just blindly accepting an authority that you assume everyone else must do the same
Second, because I accept the authority as an authority, the nature of the claims of that authority mean that all people also must accept that authority. If God is God, then all are subject to His authority
Lastly, you also seem stuck on whatever dogma you believe. You just aren't operating in the open about it.
quote:And I provided definitions of "dogma" that indicate that the word is only describing an authoritative belief, so therefore if you believe something to be true, then you also adhere to "dogma", and therefore your accusation that it universally leads to ignorance and a loss of reality can be used against you.
I demonstrated how dogma leads to ignorance and a loss of reality for those subscribed to it.
Even so, you didn't demonstrate how your view of dogma does lead to ignorance and a loss of reality, but you've only asserted it. You didn't provide an actual argument for why that is true, as far as I remember, but I'm sure you can refresh my memory.
quote:You continue to exaggerate or outright butcher the claims I'm making. The creation and "torture" is not done for its own end, but for the glory of God and to magnify His mercy on those He grants pardon to, for their good.
You've demonstrated you think creating billions of people just so you can torture them for eternity is what you think is "Just".
However, I demonstrated how such a thing is just according to God's holiness, and our sinfulness due to original sin (due to federalism), and actual sin. You haven't argued against it; you've only said you think it's evil.
quote:Christians have explained the difference as a matter of perspective and emphasis for a long, long time. You just don't like that, and you assume it must be a contradiction, so you think I must admit to it.
The order of creation in Genesis isn't even the same. Probably because it's actually 2 different creation stories.
quote:According to your own dogma.
On top of that, neither of them is actually correct anyway.
quote:I mentioned that. He began to die (was able to die, and his body began to deteriorate where it was preserved from dying previously), and he died spiritually as soon as he disobeyed. So that wasn't a contradiction, either.
There is also the fact God tells Adam he will die if he eats the fruit, he does not.
quote:All I have to do to prove you wrong about a "contradiction" is to give a plausible way to reconcile two competing claims. As long as an "excuse" works, it destroys the claim of a necessary contradiction.
By study I'm sure you mean "Do you know about the multiple excuses people make for these things?"
quote:You claim God has spoken to you, right? If so, have you written that down anywhere? If so, then that would be a "marketing pamphlet", too. Your language betrays you aren't a serious person.
Back to citing the marketing pamphlet.
quote:God has told you these things through His word. You would do well to listen to Him.

You belong to a satanic cult that mixed pagan religions to worship an innocent man/being/God/whatever that represents the truth and doing things right as a way to your own salvation.
quote:Not true. I deserve the same eternal punishment that everyone else does. "Deserving" is not the issue. My worship of God does not make me less deserving of Hell, nor more deserving of Heaven. It's by God's grace alone that I or anyone else is saved.
You talk about how other people deserve to go to hell for their sins, even innocent babies, but at the same time consider yourself not deserving because you worship the death of the innocent. Even though you are guilty, the same of them and likely more.

You seem to be stuck on a strict works-based "salvation", where everyone starts out good or morally neutral, and as long as they do enough good works according to what they think is right (or maybe according to "common decency"), then they are deserving of going to Heaven, or whatever it is you believe about the afterlife. That's not how it works, though.
You call this "Just" only because you believe yourself to be saved as a result, not because it's based on anything that would otherwise be considered justice. That is delusion.
All deserve eternal punishment--including and especially me--because of our guilt before God, and in spite of our sin, He offers salvation to all who hear the message of the gospel: repent of your sins and believe in Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
Instead of accepting that offer, you reject it and claim that God is unjust because not everyone has the same offer of pardon. Nothing is going to change your mind on this other than the work of God's Spirit, but I can at least correct your factual errors about what God teaches in the Bible.
quote:I would, because humans have no authority to act as God does, nor do we have the moral right to do so. God is perfect, and no mere humans are. He is perfectly just, and no mere human is.
In fact, you would be outraged if these same acts of "Justice" were applied on earth.
quote:The Pharisees actually did not believe Jesus was the Son of God, nor that His death would save sinners like them. They rejected His offer of salvation, so in that sense, you are more like the Pharisees than I am. I presume based on your own comments that you think being a good person (whatever that means to you) means you are worthy of God's favor, and that's what the Pharisees believed, too. They actually taught that all you had to do was belong to Abraham's line and obey the law. You think all you need is to be born at all, and to be a good person, right? You are the Pharisee.
I see absolutely NO connection between you and Jesus at all. You are closer to a Pharisee. Especially since you and them agree that the death of Jesus is required to save yourselves.
Besides that, you say you see no connection between Jesus and me. That's fair. Perhaps you can explain to me what you believe about Jesus and what He taught, and why you believe He existed and taught what you claim.

More arbitrary and subjective than your standards? Let me guess "The bible is the word of God" dogma response incoming.

It's blind and you just applied circular logic to prove it's blind. That is dogma. The keyword there is "ACCEPT". You "ACCEPT".

Oh, so him saving you over someone who sins less and punishes them for all eternity glorifies God?
Does this mean if I go out and beat the shite out of other women it glorifies the love for my wife?
quote:
Christians have explained the difference as a matter of perspective and emphasis for a long, long time. You just don't like that, and you assume it must be a contradiction, so you think I must admit to it.
Neither of them is correct. The perspective you speak of is that of man with limited knowledge of the actual world. Because that's all it is, a book written by men.
Or I guess God in his perfect word was unable to know that in the future people would know the real order.

I mentioned that. He began to die (was able to die, and his body began to deteriorate where it was preserved from dying previously), and he died spiritually as soon as he disobeyed. So that wasn't a contradiction, either.

You claim God has spoken to you, right? If so, have you written that down anywhere? If so, then that would be a "marketing pamphlet", too. Your language betrays you aren't a serious person.

Which part? Are you saying Christianity isn't full of pagan traditions? Are you claiming Jesus doesn't also represent the sun to appease those traditions? You think Christmas has anything to actually do with Jesus b'day? No, it's about the winter solstice and the representation of Jesus as the sun. The walking on water, the crown of thorns - all references to the Sun to appease pagan religions/traditions.
Are you further claiming that the story itself isn't based on an archetype that has been repeated in multiple cultures? Have you ever seen the movie the Matrix? Do you understand Neo = Jesus?
You idol worship.
You believe in human sacrifice as a saving mechanism.
Because it was written by men trying to unite people under their control. The books of the bible weren't even written by the people around Jesus. They aren't a direct account.

I never said anything about salvation or works based or anything else. What the frick are you talking about? You are literally now making up positions and debating them.
Life is the result of limitations.
quote:
All deserve eternal punishment--including and especially me--because of our guilt before God, and in spite of our sin, He offers salvation to all who hear the message of the gospel: repent of your sins and believe in Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
Pretty shite way to choose such a thing really. Never mind that it has no real purpose and means life only exists for the purpose of sinning.
quote:
Instead of accepting that offer, you reject it and claim that God is unjust because not everyone has the same offer of pardon. Nothing is going to change your mind on this other than the work of God's Spirit, but I can at least correct your factual errors about what God teaches in the Bible.
Now it's my choice again.
Your claims of God make him unjust. You claim you are given preferential treatment, calling it a pardon. Even against people who have much less sin to you.
You try to justify this by claiming it's to glorify God to do this. By pushing people who are more innocent than you are, it glorifies the mercy of God. You're fricking insane.
And your last sentence is just a shitty attempt at getting me to accept your dogma. That is what you want, you want me to debate you while accepting the bible is the word of God. Not happening. It's not the word of God, not going to pretend that it is.
I pointed out the flaws over and over while allowing you to explain in your own words and the only response you can give is the dogma. That's the bottom line.
quote:
The Pharisees actually did not believe Jesus was the Son of God, nor that His death would save sinners like them.
Besides that, you say you see no connection between Jesus and me. That's fair. Perhaps you can explain to me what you believe about Jesus and what He taught, and why you believe He existed and taught what you claim.
They rejected him because he didn't do what they claimed the Messiah would do. The pharisees represent people who lack understanding but know the words very well.
I never said any such things about God's favor being based on being a good person or anything else you assumed.
Jesus likely didn't exist. He is an archetype. You are taking it literal like someone watching the matrix and then making sure pay phones exist all over the world in case neo wants to come back. Do you see the code, or do you see the woman in the red dress? You see the woman in the red dress.

I'm not an atheist. Far from it.
You must be from some kumbaya religion that makes it up as you go. You don't seem to stand for anything.
Maybe you are Presbyterian. They don't stand for anything discernable either.

What a stupid thread. Lol. Then who’s going to stop them from making any other religion a political movement? You really though that one through lmao

quote:Hey now. Not all Presbyterians are PCUSA, and even within that denomination, there are many fighting to reform it. I’m a Presbyterian that believes the Bible is the word of God with ultimate authority over the Church; that women should not be pastors/preachers; that abortion is a violation of the 6th commandment; and that LGBTQ+ should be repented of, not allied with.
Maybe you are Presbyterian. They don't stand for anything discernable either.

I do not belong to a religion or any other replacements for God.
And my standards are much higher than yours or any Christian. All you got to do is believe in human sacrifice. How much lower of a bar can you get?

This is the way around the 1st amendment
How would it get around the First Amendment?
A) Islam is a religion; and B) political speech is also protected by the First Amendment.
