Sad story. A girl who was at the school during the shooting (and a friend of Meadow Pollack) killed herself recently. She had been diagnosed with PTSD and it is believed she suffered from "survivors guilt." This is the same mental health issue seen in some war vets.

PTSD can be a bitch and I hope one day there will be better help for sufferers. I feel terrible for her family and may God be with them and the rest of the survivors.

Seems like such a strange concept but I guess it's one of those things you can't possible picture unless you're actually in such a situation.

He's too self-important to do such a thing.

Her poor parents. I can't imagine my child being at a school during something like that. Then, to have to bury her after her suicide based potentially on ptsd from survivors guilt. Prayers to them.

So this is well documented but still raises some questions.

LSD has actually had great results with treating PTSD and Alcoholism in adults. I believe with alcoholism it had a 96% success rate, which includes 0 relapses after 6 months.

It wasn't until several started mass producing for recreational use that the FDA cut all funding.

I'm not saying give everyone with PTSD a few sheets of Acid and they are cured. These were done in controlled environments and the dosage was minuscule compared to one hit of recreational acid, and then participants were monitored and routinely checked up on.

Interesting you mention LSD. There is clinical evidence that Ketamine (a hallucinogenic anasthetic) is highly effective for depression. In fact, the FDA just approved it last month for treatment resistant depression. Since ketamine is abused as a street drug (especially in Europe) the FDA has mandated that ketamine can only be used at the doctor's office. (The doses involved are much smaller than a recreational user would ingest).

Since depression is closely linked in the brain to anxiety disorders (PTSD is an anxiety disorder), it is being studied for the treatment of those disorders as well.

This is opening up a whole new school of thought as other hallucinogenic drugs are now being studied. There are actually clinical trials underway as we speak for MDMA (ecstacy) for treatment of PTSD.
