Because you’re calling a place a “total shithole”, so I want to know on what information you’re basing that judgment.
I travel to Paris frequently. It’s not a total shithole but definitely in the fast track to it. When we lived in Manchester I would take wife over for 3 day weekends. Tide was turning outside the tourist areas 15 years ago.
Two women riding the subway at night was very common. Now it is 100% dangerous in all areas of Paris.
In Oil & Gas and have frequent meetings with Total near La Defense. So yes, I know the city and the area quite well.
It’s unrecognizable from a culture and safety standpoint in many areas. Without a doubt.

Why does this matter?
Exactly

Some 22,000 police officers were deployed across the country, including 8,000 in Paris alone, in a direct response to the rioting that plagued PSG’s victory last year. To minimize the chaos, public transport was heavily restricted; tram lines were halted, several metro stations were closed, and bus services were suspended in vulnerable areas. Wary shop owners along the Champs-Élysées and surrounding streets also boarded up their windows ahead of kickoff to prevent the looting and vandalism seen the previous year.
Seems like a trend. I knew Paris was going to be on fire, no matter what, even before it went to extra time.

Most tourists don't take the train into the city from CDG to look at all the nice graffiti, or drive through the "markets" near the Stade de France, etc.

That picture could have been drawn for many of the USA major cities. New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles.

What's the point of defending this?

I was there last November.
Parts of that city are overrun with African immigrants.
Other parts are nice.
Most people on this board never get on airplanes.

I was just in Paris and it was surprisingly nice. Saw none of this, thankfully.
