He was pretty taken aback, but of course we have a 3 year contract with the organization which we can't break.
They did create a committee to review and put more oversight into what is being assigned. The teacher now has to oversee the reading where as before the kids just read it on their own. But, that part isn't happening and with so much COVID bs going on, there is no accountability or enforcement. So...not really, but kinda.

Exactly. We know how all of this will go and up, so important to use this examples of how the slippery slope goes.

Our schools hold contests to see how many articles kids can read, with prizes for the winners. So, a kid that's into basketball is gonna search up NBA.
The teachers assign them too.

I haven’t read every single article on there. I actually think it isn’t very political. We use it at my school. I assign articles about robots, holidays, kids doing good things like collecting books or raising money for good causes, etc. I teach in MAGA-vile and the parents would definitely express their disapproval if they felt the same way OP did.
