I was in Lahore Pakistan for a couple weeks in 1995. Every body had a gun visible including clerks and taxi drivers. Parks and other open spaces were filled with Afghani's refugees and almost all of them were stoned on opium.

Most people have forgotten, or never knew, that, before the invasion, the Taliban had bin Laden under house arrest.
They offered to turn him over to a neutral 3rd party, but the neo-cons said "No, we need to feed the MIC", so we went ahead and invaded.

Oh well that completely offsets them shooting at American soldiers for the best part of 20 years.
