Nonsense. The Shah was a typical fascist ruler who used Islam as a means of repression. He was very typical of many Arab rulers like Assad and Qaddafi.

I don’t “know” it, but I think it’s likely. There are polls, but polls are tricky in authoritarian run countries. I know Iranian expatriates, and this is what I’ve gathered from them.
