God isn’t evil. God is goodness, but he is not your buddy many think he is. He describes himself as a consuming fire and perfect and holy and we are completely unworthy, yet he loves us.

Democrats don't believe in the Constitution either. Not a single Dem voted for Rand Paul's amendment to the NDAA, asserting the supremacy of the Constitution when compared to the NATO treaty.

You would never know without them virtue signaling. Should Republicans virtue signal like you folks? Is that what makes you a good person?

woke means compassionate and empathetic.
No, it means dumb and naive. No sensible person believes in the fairy religion or y'alls racial stupidity.

You have been given over to a reprobate mind Hanky... It is unfortunate but your eyes will be opened one day... You will bend the knee and you will confess, like everyone else...

Deep in each man is the knowledge that something knows of his existence. Something knows, and cannot be fled nor hid from.
It was never that man ceased to believe in God. No. It was rather that he came to believe terrible things of him.

"Satan" is just this world and its pleasurable ways.

Because most want a true Democracy where 50.0001% of the population can kill you if they choose.

They should want to do what is right and moral because an action is moral if it promotes the general welfare or minimizes unnecessary suffering, or both.
Sam Harris wrote an entire book trying to justify that position and he failed miserably. Your claim does no better.

You sound like a progressive in good standing with the party.

How do you reconcile the amount of sexual abuse that's been going on amongst priests then?
Pedophiles take jobs around children. Schools, scouts, churches.
These people aren't true believers, just pedophiles.

Then there's Job..
Job is obviously a parable.
Much of the old testament is just that.

The bible would strongly disagree with you on that.
No, it wouldn't.
quote:
Sodom and Gamorrah- He burned the place to the ground and then turned lots wife to salt.
There was not a single righteous person left in Sodom and Gomorrah and great wickedness was encouraged, so God destroyed it. It is not morally evil to destroy moral evil. Lot's wife disobeyed God and suffered a consequence, God did not directly kill her.
quote:
The Flood- how do you think all the people not on the ark felt?
Again, all of mankind had been corrupted. God had to cleanse the world of humanity's corruption or His creation would have been lost. See above regarding moral evil.
quote:
Then there's Job
Ironic you mention Job, since most of the people discussing suffering vis a vis God's will could find their answers there if they cared to read and truly understand.

Per the poll, 20% of Dems believe in God but not the Devil, and almost 10% believe in Heaven but not Hell.
That last number is concerning, because they think there's a Heaven, and everyone goes regardless of actions in life.
That's a lack of consequences.
I should have more strongly emphasized this in the OP. This thread went a different direction than I imagined. Religion was a minimal aspect of it, but the mentality around Earthly consequences more so. People just go crazy if religion is mentioned in any way.

I expect our children nor anyone to suffer.
Jesus himself suffered, and he said if you followed him, expect persecution.
Unfortunately, the modern church teaches a false easy believeism that proclaims life will be easy and great if you become a Christian and there will be no pain or suffering.
This doesn’t align with scripture.

Interesting
quote:
Americans with annual household incomes under $40,000 are more likely than those with incomes of at least $100,000 to believe in each of the entities.
Adults aged 55 and older are most likely to believe in each of the concepts
Women are more likely than men to believe in all of the spiritual concepts
Adults without a college degree are more likely than college graduates to believe in each of the five entities.

When you fight to have the right to kill children in the womb you don't believe in anything.
The bible tells us how God feels about killing children. We continue this practice today. Sacrificing unborn children to God of convenance, selfishness, and not accepting responsibility for our lives. The sin is on the mothers than choose it, but also for society as a whole for allowing it.
Don't take my word for it :
quote:
Leviticus 20:2-5 ESV
“Say to the people of Israel, Any one of the people of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. I myself will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given one of his children to Molech, to make my sanctuary unclean and to profane my holy name. And if the people of the land do at all close their eyes to that man when he gives one of his children to Molech, and do not put him to death, then I will set my face against that man and against his clan and will cut them off from among their people, him and all who follow him in whoring after Molech.
