No, that's what happen when you think you're saving by signing up for wholesale rates. Those rates change with the cost of energy.

fricking idiots signed up to pay market rates are getting mad when they have to pay market rates? Its not like the standard retail contract has pages upon pages of disclaimer and warnings to protect the consumer... Does anyone read it? Nah...

Chances are pretty good that the effects of this storm have not even hit the billing cycle yet, after all the news misinformation we’ve heard over the last few months, surely people realize that a lot of what you hear isn’t exactly true.
But, the fact that monthly prices even have the potential to drastically change is a direct result of deregulation in the electric market. If you research the areas that have adopted deregulation, it hasn’t worked well for homeowners anywhere it’s in place

Would you be able to cough up 18k for one month of electricity?
Nope.
But I wouldn't live with a bill that was $660 a month either. That must be a pretty good sized house.

Gritty sets their price according to the market. We had Gritty and was told early on to switch. When we switched, the rate was $52.00 dollars per kw our.

Standing is based upon their stake in the outcome. A class action suit is in order.

I know I am going to get lumped in with "ohh conspiracy", but I find the timing of all this to be very coincidental when Texas is pushing back hard against the Fed.
Explain how this could be related, in clear logic.

I also live in Collin County we have farmers electric today I’m currently at $167.00 on a 4200sqft house and we never lost power. Now I’m interested to see my gas bill since that’s what all my appliances run off of. The people that are getting these types of bills are using power services that buy wholesale power from providers. They get good pricing when rates are low but when the shite hits the fan they are stuck with the higher rates.

Looks like we found another Q conspiracy drinker...
You forget that Texas’ power grid is operated and maintained by Texas, and not part of the two major federally-controlled power grids that service every other state in the country.

OUR taxpayer money should NOT be used to bailout billion dollar corporations who choose to line their pockets while we freeze & while people die.

What about the 130,000 acres owned by the chynese? They have 130,000 acre Wind Farm in Texas near Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio that have the ability to connect to our grid.

Mine was $135 last month for a 2400 sq ft home in Santa Rosa Beach Fl. I expect it to be less next month.

How is this connected to Biden’s presidency? Land purchased from Texas and developed under the nose of Abbott...
Or is this just more “Crazy Joe Bad”

I might pay it but I promise you it would cost them a helluva a lot more in the damages I would cause them.
