This is exactly how counter cultures become mainstream and "cool" in pop culture. A few prominent stars get behind something that is shunned or demonized in pop culture, then it slowly spreads as being "cool" and "different".
I don't think people are taking this as seriously as they should, after all it's just silly Kanye being weird, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was all of a sudden "cool" to like Trump in a few years.
