In this context, the term “fake news” is meaningless ... simply a Trumpism to excite his followers. It is a term he uses to describe any “news” which he perceives as being contrary to him, his views and/or his aims. Sometimes that perception is inaccurate and sometimes not. I have never said otherwise.
Thus, using Trump’s definitions and terminology, you could indeed apply that term. It would still be meaningless unless you accept his self-definition OF that term. I do not.
The man is a master at marketing. I have never denied it. I am just not buying what he is selling.
Some of us are better at spotting a sketchy used car salesman than others.
