Soft money is also open to anyone located anywhere in the country even for local elections. This is why you see a flood of money come in from out of state when there is going to be a close election. It is really a good playbook to begin learning about laundering money. That is why you hear the term dark money. It is moved through multiple organizations through different PACs.

The money spent by out of state and out of country corporations to buy elections is shameful for a country founded on prevention of such abuse.

Aside from the fact that’s not what our country was founded on I don’t disagree. But you don’t solve the problem by flushing the 1st Amendment down the toilet, you solve it by shrinking the government. When Congress controls buying and selling, the first thing bought and sold is Congress. Fix the first part of that and you fix the second. Ignore it and you’ll NEVER get money out of politics.

Last thing large corporate monopolies want is diversity. They want control and they want it complete and absolute. Big corporations today are like the Catholic Church before Martin Luther. Neither were in the best interest of the human race as a whole.

Google, Facebook, Twatter, Bill Gates, Koch Brothers and open borders. I am sure I am leaving some of these evil corporations out, but it is late.

Are you even concerned how the Clinton Foundation is worth hundreds of millions? Or how and why BHO bought a 15 million dollar mansion on the rising waters of the beach at Martha's Vineyard?

I worry more about average people becoming rich while being politicians than I am about a rich man becoming a politician and donating his salary.

I love our wonderfully inefficient government. Efficiency is fascistic.

America is the first country in the world founded on the absence of some form of primogeniture. Dictators, monarchs, autocrats, oligarchs, aristocrats, and the like all funneled assets from a leader to a primary heir such as the first son. As the first settlers of the Americas from European stock were those sons and daughters who could not inherit titles or land. Convicts, indentured servants, and slaves rounded out that cast of characters. The last thing they wanted was a new society based on old views that would leave then without wealth or assets. Trow in those with differing political and religious views and it created a new world with new ideas of ownership and governance.

quote:

1st Amendment

Freedom of Religion protects the Muslims and the Jews. The Catholics and Protestants
Freedom of Speech (individual NOT corporate) - Buying votes is not freedom
Freedom of Press (the 4th estate which no longer exists) - Bought by Disney and Rupert
Right of Assembly - slowly curtailed and eroded when against powers in place
Petition the Government - greatly eroded under the ludicrous Patriot Act

Did I miss anything?

Something neither the Democrats or Republicans will do with corporate interference in the election process

Not initially but like the Roman Senate it gets worse as populations grow and power is concentrated

I agree in principle, sometimes tho, government must intercede to protect the power of the citizens to affect change when such power has been concentrated in too few hands. It is seriously sad for a country built on the individual sells it's collective soul to the groupthink that enriches so few.

If any entity that can not enter the voting booth (be it union, corporation, or other non human entity - we don't allow dogs to vote for a reason too) it should not be allowed to fund any part of the election process. freedom of religion is fine but preaching politics from the pulpit is not. Jesus preached to render unto Caesar, that which was Caesar's and the same for god. He never mentions co mingling those assets.

The republicans uncovered real crimes

The Democrats covered up their crimes by blaming republicans for them
