This is a truly horrible situation but the article I read said his parents knew and were ok with him going to north Korea.

If they didn't try to stop him they failed him as parents

You can blame it on Obama all you want but this is the reason he's dead. Isn't the far right the party of personal responsibility?

You can't die in North Korea if you don't go to North Korea.

way over his head. Pisses me off that our Government doesn't at least inform people like

Jeez, he was bright, educated, it ain't the government's fault in any way nor do we need to do more than we are doing to alert Americans to the dangers of any NON FREE COUNTRY

They had beaten him into a coma before he was even sentenced

Where did you see that? Everything I've seen says they had drugged him up for whatever reason and ended up using to much or had him on it too long.

think it will def serve as a cautionary tale in the future for an americans wanting to go over there. one has to wonder though why obama wasn't able to get him out earlier.

They kept him long enough for bruising and swelling to subside. Also toxicology maybe? I do not know how long hair can show toxins.

They weren't sending a guy with his eyes swollen shut or other hematomas. Or a swollen brain on cat scan.

As a parent, I can't even imagine the pain.

As an American parent, I am so very angry.

His parents will forever feel guilt for giving the OK for him to go to NK. I assume it was ignorance, but it was deadly ignorance.

I can't imagine how the parents feel right now. My prayers are with them. Having said that, that dad is a fricking snowflake.

Off topic. I have a good friend from Palatka, that is a professor at Auburn. Mostly answers to shithead, but properly named Brian. My son in law and granddaughter comes up and hunts with him every year. Does that strike a note with you? I ask only because you indicated you knew some peeps from here.

I'm sure they feel more guilt than any of us can possibly imagine. But, as we all know, there is only so much parents can do. He was not a little kid and his parents could not have stopped him no matter how much they may have tried. But I wouldn't want to walk 10 feet in their shoes today.

Medical records from April 2016 showed the brain damage and the US doctors said it likely occured several weeks before that. He was sentenced in a real odd and rushed thing on March 16th. Seems reasonable that it happened right around that time as they (NK) were openly talking then suddenly closed off negotiations.

Ah ok. Wasn't being confrontational or anything...just different from what I heard. Makes sense though.

is that better than having him die? i'm not saying load his trunk top to bottom with cocaine

but put an 1/8th of weed in his pocket and call the cops.

i'm not kidding. I would never let a loved one go to north korea. I wouldn't even let a loved one go to central city.

An American citizen has been murdered by the government of North Korea. Your move Donald.

Like blaming Miller and Budweiser for a single car DUI fatality.

Never took it as confrontational. There are a lot of people on here who are open minded, with some notable exceptions.

There is no way I go to North Korea without some type of prep class or cultural immersion program. You never know what will set those frickers off.

Donald got the boy home so he could at least die in dignity, with his family around him.

If I was Otto's father, I would certainly appreciate that.
