Things are rarely as bad as they project.

But sometimes they are worse.

Good luck coonasses. If anyone can ride out this thing you people can.

Usually one of these hits a region and Linemen from around the country can converge on that area and restore power. This is going to be an issue that it is so wide spread. I hope above all hopes the outages are limited in scope. Stay safe all.
...................

A lineman I used to know said that finding replacement parts has also been an issue.

"Large Power Transformers: Critical, high-voltage components that often take months or years to replace, representing a significant bottleneck in restoration. Power Line Hardware: Fuses, insulators, conductors, and poles are necessary for repairing local distribution lines.?

Thanks.

The coonasses aren't going to get his too hard, though. It's us Protestants up in North Louisiana who are in jeopardy.

We've added 17GW of power since then. Most of it renewable sources and batteries. If there is going to be a problem it's going to be a fuel transport issue. There are some risks with the gas not making it to the generation plants. That's the most likely point of failure.

And/or 50% of all overhead utilities being destroyed.

I get downvoted in that OT weather thread when I post logic and reason regarding the storm and people overreacting in South LA. It's like they all want it to be bad so they can be victims.

Well, they claim that humans are to blame for climate change. They present very little to no real concrete evidence and the evidence they do present is largely flawed and unscientific.

I simply chose to shorten that to, “Dems are morons.”

Just speaking to my audience.
