Right. The ad serves no purpose but to feed the smug faux superiority of people like you, and to get their product “buzz.”

Win

Ok. If that's all it's about, then they win and you lose.

There's nothing in this thread for you to get so pissed off about.

Absolutely.

You have true believers in these "diversity" departments and marketing departments.

I don't really have a problem with the sentiment, but have no idea what it has to do with Oreo Cookies. Also, why are they using such out-moded binary terms like "son" and "mother"?

In the thread? No, of course there’s not.

we all know Asians can't pronounce the R in Oreo anyway. So therefore it's Oweo, and we all know how we feel about that..

They've been woke for a while. Cannot recall when, but it's been at least 5 years since we bothered to buy.

You and I still disagree on whether or not these is some focus grouped move on their part I think. For me, it's less complicated than that. They are doing this because they CAN, not because they know it tracks well with customers.

Maybe.

But I don't think any corporation does jackshit without first studying how it will effect earnings. They study what they will gain with one market and what they will lose with another.

I think they've come to the conclusion there's a net gain in all this. And based on this queer love fest the left is currently tossing off to in this country, they would be right.

Anyhoo. There ya go I guess.

Oreo was most likely blackmailed for this.

SLush funds from community groups fund social justice. There's financial incentive and blackmail type pressure involved.

I don't hold that view. The other guy does. I think all this is so much more complex than all that.

You might be correct. My reasoning for thinking otherwise is how quickly you saw companies go completely insane in this type of virtue signaling after Floyd with clearly no time at all to focus group any of that, and the clear emotional responses by Disney execs in those recent videos that got smuggled out. None of these were long term focus grouped moves, and I say that as a guy in advertising with a bit of experience in the turn around times for this kind of stuff. What I saw was completely reactionary.

That said, at this point they can see clearly that despite all the complaining about it from The Right, they do not vote with their dollars and make them pay, so they can cater to this demographic AND keep The Right's funding at the same time. And they'll keep it up until The Right defunds them.

I think the social pressure is the biggest driver. Internet mobs do work. These people live around social justice types, particularly in marketing. I think the footprint is misleading.

No, but there's middle area in which you avoided. Its a small view to see only two options here. I certainly think discussing is part of the process

This is not as obnoxious as the woke Gillette crap, but it is really a painfully stupid excuse for an ad. I was a life long Gillette user, but now, no matter who much they dominate the shelves, I don't touch their work shite.

What next, is GIECO's gecko coming out gay.

I dunno, Gillette was buried. If done on the right scale with viable non-woke alternatives, this kind of stuff can sink you.

Hell Salvation Army is another example

A recent immigrant to the country would likely believe that half the US is black and gay just going by pop culture and the internet.

Going overboard to make up for past perceived slights is a part of "equity.: Its social engineering. That's not a conspiracy, that's how ideas are changed. The only subjective part is outcomes.

Im no big fancy ad executive, but how does catering to the minority of your customers and alienating the overwhelming majority of your customer base make good buisiness sense?

I suspect that the top of the corporate ladder has invited a few too many homosexual executives for diversity reasons so they thought it was a good idea to put a gay turd into their customers punch bowl. Leftist marketing works that way. Ideology before good sense.

Don't worry, if the commies get the real power they crave it will be electroshock therapy and the like for the gay community have been courting.

I would like to think Gillette's bullshite hurt them but there are differing thoughts on that.

To your point though. Poorly researched advertising can hurt for sure. Gillette probably went waaaay overboard with that shite but they seem to be the exception and not the rule in terms of negative market retaliation.

Market trends in general are strongly leaning woke and progressive.
