This happens fairly regularly when gearing up for election season I receive an email from our central office saying, "vote for so and so they support (insert business)"

Is this common? Especially coming from essentially my supervisor telling me who to vote for months in advance of an election?

Are you talking about elections for your company, like union positions for example?

Vote for who you want and don’t talk politics at work. I wouldn’t mention religion either.

No, unless you are in the union.

Have never had that experience. Have seen a church flirt with doing so, however.

frick that.

I'm on staff at a hospital here in Los Angeles. I've never had someone from the hospital tell me how to vote, but from time to time people will try to engage me in political disusssions. I have a standard answer that has served me well: I don't discuss politics at work.

One other thing: I live in La-La Land, so I operate on the assumption that every employee in the hospital is a liberal.

Same here.

I usually say something to the effect of “I dont discuss politics during daylight hours”.. and since I don’t work night shifts, that’s usually enough to shut them up... one time i had someone persist though, and i actually had to say “You know how when you go to vote, and you step into the booth, then you close those curtains behind you.. you know why they have those? Because that shite is PRIVATE!”

Seemed to be an effective silencer.

I work for Salesforce

They’re pictures of pride flags and Nancy P everywhere in the office.

So to a degree yes.

Hell no that has never happened to me then again I work in an industry that is pretty much all conservatives. We respect the right to vote and wouldnt abuse company policy or waste time doing that.

The only time I got that message(not email, in person) was when I was a deputy and the Sheriff was up for re-election.
