Desire to save everyone? Like saving people from being trafficked? Rampant corruption ? What amounts to urban wasteland that actual taxpayers are burdened with in supporting and dealing with the crime? How about the rot of society across the board, it certainly affects young people future lol at just the last 20 years and think what 20 additional years will prove to be. This isn’t a question of the money getting burned in a conflict but rather the conflict burning down the societal system

To have a real discussion, we need to first set some ground rules. I'm trying to find out who you want to be put in jail. We've been putting people in jail on drug charges since the 70's. Things are not better.
I'm a firm believer in making prisoners do hard labor. Let them swing a sledge hammer and break rocks all day, every day. Prison should be so terrible that no one ever even considers jaywalking once they get out.
Problem with drugs is that they are addicts and you can't change those peole. So you have to prevent them from getting drugs. If they could stop on their own, they likely would.

Most users arent addicts. Youre already on a bad foundation.
You would probably be surprised to learn the professions that lead in drug abuse/misuse.

Pretty sure that’s a conservative theme as progressives, liberals and libertarians are the ones who are for allowing everything to be legal on the drug front.
