Reporting (you remember what that is, right?) from the Rio Grande Valley of Texas....

quote:

Friday, RGV Border Patrol agents found six abandoned bundles of marijuana weighing over 140 pounds worth an estimated $113K near Pharr, Texas.

Saturday, agents working near Rio Grande City, Texas, observed multiple people load bundles of marijuana into a car parked along the Rio Grande. As agents got closer, the car sped off. The smuggler drove back to the Rio Grande, abandoned the vehicle, and fled to Mexico. A search of the vehicle revealed four bundles of marijuana weighing an over 270 pounds, worth an estimated $221K according to Customs and Border Protection.

In addition, in the past four days, agents seized over 730 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $585K in the Rio Grande Valley alone.

Correct.
And that black market exists and offers the same product...same price, but tax free! That makes its goo for the black market...and they can hide under the banner of being "legal".

If Trump & Barr legalize it completely, and anyone can grow/posses it, they would dissolve the black market for weed.

Best case scenario IMO.

The point of the thread isn't to debate the legality of marijuana, but to note the continuous influx of illegal activity from border crossings. How much is missed? This time it's pot. Next time: enriched, weapons grade plutonium?

That sounds right...but I don't think the majority of people want to grow or have the place to grow it.
If the price for Black market is cheaper that the legal storefront, many people will just shop price and ease of life.

You're not going to convince anyone that re-cheduling weed is what states should do, so you may as well not try

Your point still has absolutely nothing to do with the border

They are not mutually exclusive, but good point.
