Now faces up to 95 years. This hits home a little more, I lived just a few blocks from the Hive and was there every weekend.

Backstory: Every business in DT Omaha boarded up following George Floyd, and the bar owner Jake Gardner, with his father, went to his business to protect their property.

The deceased, James Scurlock, broke into a nearby business and ransacked the place. He and his posse walked up to The Hive bar, and started throwing shite into the windows. Jake and his father were outside, one of James's friends attacks the elder Gardner. Jake, an ex-marine, gets tackled from behind and pulls a firearm to shoot 2 warning shots in the air.

After getting up, he gets tackled again, this time by young James (who just got out of prison for the 3rd time at the ripe age of 22), who proceeds to choke out Jake for 18 seconds before Jake pulls his firearm again and shoots behind himself, hitting and killing James.

This was initially ruled clear self defense, but of course the mob demanded a independant jury investigate. This was clearly self defense, but you know, gotta pander to the mob. Disgusting

The long held right of self defense is being eradicated before our very eyes.

That’s one way to make guns useless.

If he just says he was protesting and supports BLM, he probably gets out for good behavior

Do you think there’s a point where conservatives do something about any of this bullshite?

Second question - if there is a line that can be crossed, will it be before or after it doesn’t matter anymore?

While it's bullshite that he was even charged, there's zero chance he'll be convicted

And yet, he'll have astronomical legal fees, lost his business, and and is required to turn himself in. Probably be in jail for months until he gets cleared. That's fricked up.

The Right has already lost here. Substantially. It doesn’t matter whether he’s found innocent or not.

We are getting worked politically by a group we see as stupid, weak, cowardly, not to mention wrong about nearly everything.

I don’t think so, no.

I do think we are headed for a Cold War version of internal violence, though. Our version of The Troubles, if you will. Mostly though, I think conservatives will roll over and take it. The few who don’t will be made examples of, like this bar owner, among others (Rittenhouse, St Louis couple, etc etc).

I think the line that could ignite a “civil war” or real bona fide secession efforts would be when they come for the guns.

However, I believe the Marxists are aware of this eventuality and will avoid a direct line of action. Instead, they are playing the long game when it comes to guns. Research their ideas, they plan to slowly suffocate gun ownership through a multifaceted effort.

So...I believe power will most likely be consolidated with the government and government class, transferred from the people, and freedom as we have known it in America will die a slow, quiet death.

It’s unnerving.

The 2nd amendment makes us who we are. We lose it. We’ll lose the freedoms that made America unique.

Omaha is officially a shithole for this, convicting the innocent for protecting their private property.

This is where they win. They don't need a conviction, just a life completely fricked up. DA's need to do their damned jobs and tell the mob "don't want to get shot? don't loot - too bad" as that is the correct response. Catering to one side but not holding people responsible for riots and looting is completely neglecting their duties as a DA.

There will come a time where someone will defend themselves and kill an intruder in their own home. The DA will charge them so the mob doesn't riot (they still will) then a family member of the homeowner will murder the DA because the homeowner's right to self defense is being questioned. A terrible set of events. DA's shouldn't be trying clear defined self-defense cases as the ones who just want to be left alone will react with a terrible fury that who knows what will happen. When justice isn't being done, you do not want the citizenry to take matters in their own hands.

Tim pool said it best. It's easier to appease the mob. Control one person than a ton of people.

I honestly think its already too late.
Consider the election of the President of the United States of America not being accepted by 50% of the population, no matter the outcome.
November 3rd is only the beginning and what we have seen so far is child's play, IMO

The 2nd amendment shifts the balance of power away from the state, to the individual, that is unique in the west.

Look at the UK, look at France. In France, Macron is really just an elected king.

Without the 2nd amendment, the other amendments, most importantly the 1st, are worthless. Because we would have no way to defend them.

Look at how politicians and judges have thrown out our constitutional rights and permitted these egregious lockdowns, in the name of safety.

Lord Acton noted this in the 19th century, but what we’ve called progress has led to the centralization of power, and the corresponding loss of personal freedom wherever it’s occurred. We have been the least effected but COVID shows how quickly it can change.
