Two-term Republican Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio announced Monday that he won’t seek a third six-year term when he is up for reelection in 2022.
Portman touted his legislative achievements in a statement announcing the news, but the senator also pointed to congressional gridlock as a reason he won’t campaign for another term in the Senate. He serves on the Senate Finance, Homeland Security and Foreign Relations Committees.
The difficult map isn’t the only obstacle facing the Republicans. They’re also defending open seats in two crucial battleground states due to retirements. Sens. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Richard Burr of North Carolina are not running for reelection. With Portman’s announcement, add battleground Ohio to the list of states with a GOP-controlled open Senate seat.
There’s also a potential headache in Iowa, where 87-year-old GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley is staying mum so far on whether he’ll run for an eighth six-year term in the Senate. And in the battleground state of Wisconsin, Republican Sen. Ron Johnson hasn’t said if he’ll run for a third term.
On one hand, we need experience. On the other hand, we need new blood.

Why on earth would you want that headache personally at 87. Even if you were supreme dictator of the world good god. How many years do you have left where you need to hold onto the power of being a Washington senator while living them.
And I like grassley

Republicans are experts at shooting themselves in the foot. No way they hold on to 50 seats. WI, Ohio, PA and NC will all flip to the Democrats. The Democrats may win enough to get to 60 seats or more.

Given 46*'s start, we may really see a red tsunami.

We can add Shelby to the 2024 list. No way that dinosaur runs again. I think he will be about 350 years old then.

Don't forget they will pick up 4 seats when DC and PR are admitted as states.

You may get that new blood. From the DNC.

Thank God we are done with this RINO.
Many more to go but this is a start.

The only way to ensure our victory is to take one for the team the next two years. Give them their taxes plus enough extra tax to pay for their stupid programs. We are out until the working minority and mimosa brunch white women are impacted. They are the ones that have to see how much socialism really costs. If we just let them put it on a credit card , nothing will change.

States like Iowa and Ohio could replace their retiring GOPs with another.
Wisconsin and Pennsylvania will likely replace theirs with a Democrat.

I think Shelby's term is up in 2022. I would like to see that pos run again so that we could Jeff Sessions him.

If we can get voting repaired in Georgia, we should regain the senate seat held by the wife beater, racist commie Warnock.
We just need a really good candidate. Doug Collings wants it, but I need to research how effective or not he was during the election fiasco. I have hear mixed information.
Personally, I would like any of the State Senators that actually held hearing into the fraud, or any that actually supported the effort to have specials session.
Those who opposed it should have their political careers canceled.
It should stay with them like a seagull around their neck.

Aren't they all RINOs outside of Grassley?

WI and PA will certainly lean blue.
A good candidate in NC can win. An ok candidate can win in OH.

in a fair election, 2022 would be a red tsunami.
in a fair election, 2020 would have Trump in his second term. Tho the dirty dems would still do their peach mints.
