If this part about us agreeing to allow Iran (and Oman too!) to charge tolls to exit the Strait, then this isn't just a bad deal for us- it's a humiliating one.

I have a hard time believing we'd agree to that

all we know is we are closer to where we were before the war, albeit after a lot of missiles being fired, regime leaders killed, US F-15s downed and US bases hit.
Is this the part where you pretend not to know that an incredible amount of damage has been done to the Islamic regime? Do you think that "a lot of missiles being fired" for 5 wks straight accomplished nothing? Do you get all your news from CNN and Reuters and the BBC?
The Islamic regime has been massively weakened, even if not another bomb drops, it will take them many years to rebuild their former military and economic strength. That's assuming they survive the next two or three years, which is far from certain. Unless they already have a nuclear bomb, or China sells them one, they are not a nuclear threat for the medium term. Based on what was said at the outset, these were the goals of this military campaign. Now it's the Iranian people's turn to demonstrate their resolve.

He said open the strait and not charge for the strait.
If Trump agreed to that, that is a big problem.

So it sounds like they did have their missiles pointed and ready for 8PM.
If this was their retaliatory response, oof. Although it could have been stunted by the deal being called.
If this was the other splintered factions protesting the deal, oof.

Yes. a lot of damage has been done to Iran, but few Americans know or care about the status of some Iranian petrochemical plant, important though it may be. The American people do have the common sense to understand tolls, however, and there is every indication that Iran will continue to charge them to exit the Strait. Moreover, Iran shows every sign of acting with a great deal of swagger on the world stage which it didn't have before. The sad fact is that, in a geopolitical sense, Iran is swinging a far bigger stick after the war than before it. I think we should have made them swing that stick in the dark by taking out their power plants, at a minimum. That would have made their gloats about their victory ring pretty hollow.
