Like many of you, I tuned into Trump's prime-time address last night expecting either major escalation or a surprise breakthrough announcement.
Neither happened.
What unfolded was more calculated.
Trump laid out the brutal option in stark terms: obliterate Iran's electric generating plants, hit desalination infrastructure, and potentially wipe out key oil facilities.
Then, right after, he said the war ends "very shortly" and that he expects a deal.
That sequence wasn't mixed signals.
It was deliberate Pressure and Off-Ramp.
Pressure and Off-Ramp works like this: You make the worst-case scenario feel immediate and painful. The other side feels the heat, and then you hand them a clear, dignified way out before they double down.
Trump did exactly that on national television. Maximum credible threat, followed immediately by the exit door.
Iran's response? They denied ever asking for a ceasefire. Meanwhile, the Tehran Toll Booth we've been tracking for weeks on the 'stack just went mainstream.
CNBC, Bloomberg, Insurance Journal were all covering the Larak Island story today.
$1+ per barrel in yuan and stable coins. Iran's parliamentary committee formally approved the framework. It's now official infrastructure.
If you've been following our series on the 'stack, you saw this coming before the big outlets did.
Iran didn't build a desperate blockade. Rather, they built a revenue stream and a sovereignty play over a literal global chokepoint.
They're not abandoning something this valuable without extracting real concessions in return.
Now connect the move most people are missing: Bahrain's push for a UN Security Council resolution authorizing "all necessary means" to reopen Hormuz.
Russia and China blocked the strong version.
Vote drama is expected on Friday.
Most headlines call it a diplomatic failure. That's the wrong frame. This is Plausible Deniability Architecture — built for Iran as much as against them. Iran can't voluntarily open Hormuz right now.
That would look like surrender and empower hardliners.
But they can bend to an international legal framework and multilateral pressure without losing face at home.
The Gulf states just handed them a structured off-ramp.
Watch Iran's tone after Friday's UN vote carefully.
They won't celebrate it. They won't go full condemnation. Expect something measured about "respecting international institutions."
That's the tell for progress.
Three more days until April 6!

You don't send thousands of troops to the Middle East for vacation - especially when the enemy is already targeting U.S. bases in the region. The troops can stay in hotels for so long. And you wanna put them to work while they are fresh. There are certain objectives left to be achieved before the U.S. can decisively declare victory and end the military campaign.

Why do we not just blow up the toll booth and kill everybody?

We have not and are not amassing an invasion force. We have deployed troops capable of raids and holding an island or two.
The cite is clueless as could be posing a false premise

I tend to agree with you
Still, it’s food for thought. The forced retirements today at the war dept really makes me think intel was leaked, maybe invasion related intel.

The DoD has many plans on the shelf already for at least 40 years now. Jack Keane, (4 star retired) has said this numerous times

Would not surprise me if the DoW manipulated the pizza index. Hegseth said not long ago that they’re aware of it and they monitor it.

I’m hearing that Iran has offered Europe a deal. Come & go access through the straight — poducts paid for in Euros. That’s the deal

In what way has Iran acted irrationally during all of this?
For openers, how about the massacre 30K-40K of their own unarmed citizens? That's often taken as a sign of a rational theocracy.
Idiot troll.

Their Navy deployed mines in the Strait of Hormuz which seems like a pretty strategic threat.
More Bull Shite. If they had deployed mines something would have blown up by now. Or maybe they're still waiting for just the right moment, huh?
Nonsense.
Edit, thinking about this just a little...A ship getting hit by a mine would be a big deal for the IRGC. It would really halt traffic and cause even more nail biting and pearl clutching.
If they could have had a mine hit a ship, they damn sure would have activated that by now.

All the bridges connected to Iran’s
capital, Tehran, are currently being
destroyed to isolate the capital ..
The US and Israel are setting up the time for people in Tehran to come out of their homes and take over their government. Cutting off the IN/OUT travel from Tehran keeps IRGC proxies from outside the country and outside Tehran from coming in to help shoot people. It also keeps whatever remains of the IRGC within the Tehran area.
