I have not seen evidence of mines being laid and ships continue to move through the strait without difficulty. Iran and China would not be sending ships through if there were mines.
Why is there so much discussion of mines when there is no evidence they are deployed in the strait.

The reason they’ve kept Larijani alive until now is this:
1. They need someone for “surrender negotiations”, someone the hardcore hardliners will actually listen to.
2. It was also an unspoken understanding that Larijani was basically the guardian of Chinese interests inside the system. Killing him without coordinating with Beijing (and Moscow) could unnecessarily upset them. (Just look at Larijani’s posts and the way he keeps pleading in Chinese.)
But unfortunately, it seems Larijani has recently become very active in mobilizing the regime’s sleeper cells in Dubai/the West ( see his post below) trying to orchestrate some kind of major false-flag sabotage operation (something on the scale of 9/11) and pin it on Israel.
We know it sounds completely idiotic and reckless, but that’s exactly why it’s dangerous: when people are this desperate and feel they have nothing left to lose, they become suicidal and unpredictable.

It was a scare tactic by Iran. Every day that Iran can keep skippers of ships stuck in the Gulf too scared to risk transiting the straits is a win in their eyes.

There were reports that they had 5,000-6,000 mines. Hopefully many of those have been destroyed in airstrikes.

That was not the people who did that, it was an Israeli drone strike that carried out that hit.
