Full Unsealed Indictment from DOJ
Variety Article - Quoted Below
Daily Beast - Lauren Chen Fired from The Blaze
Were the Youtubers good boys who dindu nuffin wrong and were duped or did they know the money from Tenet was dirty?
Variety Article - Quoted Below
quote:
A state-controlled Russian media outlet provided nearly $10 million to “covertly finance and direct” videos produced by a Tennessee-based online content company, the Justice Department alleged, identified by media reports as U.S. right-wing social media network Tenet Media.
A federal indictment unsealed Wednesday (available at this link) charged two employees of RT, formerly known as Russia Today, of using “fake personas and shell companies” to carry out a “secret influence campaign in the United States.” The duo “operated under covert identities” at an American company identified in court documents as “U.S. Company-1.” CNN and other media outlets said they confirmed that the company in question is Tenet Media, whose affiliated personalities include Benny Johnson and “Culture War Podcast” host Tim Pool, both of whom have millions of followers on YouTube and other platforms.
quote:
“Many of the videos posted by U.S. Company-1 contain commentary on events and issues in the U.S., such as immigration, inflation, and other topics related to domestic and foreign policy,” the DOJ said. “While the views expressed in the videos are not uniform, most are directed to the publicly stated goals of the Government of Russia and RT — to amplify domestic divisions in the United States.”
quote:
The federal indictment in the Southern District of New York charged Russian nationals and RT staff memberrs Kostiantyn Kalashnikov, 31, also known as Kostya, and Elena Afanasyeva, 27, also known as Lena, with “conspiracy to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act” and conspiracy to commit money laundering. According to the DOJ, both Kalashnikov and Afanasyeva are at large.
Daily Beast - Lauren Chen Fired from The Blaze
quote:
The conservative creator Lauren Chen had her contract terminated by Blaze Media on Thursday, a day after she was implicated in a bombshell DOJ indictment alleging a Russian influence campaign.
Chen, a co-founder of Tenet Media, had been collecting checks from the right-wing Blaze Media for creating YouTube content and appearing on BlazeTV, which was founded by the former Fox News host Glenn Beck.

Question:
Is the content of any of these videos false?
Are they based on made up stats, reports, etc?
Of course not.
But, DOJ and Garland will scream disinformation and (as has already occurred) the state controlled social media companies will dutifully censor.

Seb Gorka of all people actually has a pretty level-headed post about this.
Pool and company were probably smart enough to not ask detailed questions. Lauren Chen has some explaining to do, though.

Question: Are you okay with influencers taking money from foreign countries with the explicit goal of influencing our elections and policy?
How about you read the indictment first before getting hyper defensive?

Read the indictment dude.
Lauren Chen has got lots of explaining to do. It does not look good for her and her husband.
The rest may just have been naive and not asked the right questions.
Will be interesting to see this play out. The sums of money were wild considering that Tenet Media didn't get a ton of views (my understanding. Channel is nuked now by YouTube).

Tim Pool has a podcast Culture War under the Tenet Media umbrella. They rarely talk politics on that show. It's music, games, dating etc.
TimCast is a total separate entity on YT and they talk politics all the time and pretty much the full spectrum from left to right.

They are charged with attempting to sway votes?

Do you think the Russian bag has no influence on Tim?
Would you have this same energy if The Young Turks were found to be taking money from China?

Frankly, if the information is true, I don't give a shite where it comes from or who pays for it. I'd rather foreign financed truth than home grown propaganda and gaslighting.
Also, there is no evidence any influencer did take money (other than Chen, who is a stakeholder in Tenet).
Do foreign companies pay for advertising on MSM broadcasts? Polestar is a Chinese owned company, so is TikTok. Any of their ads run during Meet the Press?

I probably would be if corporate media wasn't DNC propaganda. This is kind of scary, actually. Sure, I guess it's on the content creator to inquire how he is being funded. But, where does this stop? Let's say the CIA wants to dirty up Rumble, then they get warrants, and now they can listen in on everything Glenn Greenwald, Bongino, Crowder, and Viva and Barnes are doing every day.

What are the questions being asked?

You know, I like this idea. Let's go ahead and analyze every media outlet and see where their money comes from when they spread blatant lies like "Joe Biden is brilliant". Every time they blatantly lie, they should be audited and someone should be fired.
Let me guess, authoritarians like yourself don't want to do that. These rules will only apply to your domestic enemies.

No.
But the DOJ and FBI do. They flipped his political messaging. He is now forcefully on your Ukraine funding train. Congratulations.

I always enjoy the cloak and dagger concern from lefties when they have multiple high up politicos in bed - sometimes literally - with actual Chinese communist spies.
