Key point: We are interpreting a VIDEO from the air-conditioned comfort of our chairs.

Saying "he should have done this or that" is pure folly.

It's sort of like people who have never played football in their lives analyzing the game from the perspective of viewing it from 10 different camera angles with slo-mo and instant replay.

When you are ON the field, you have a limited view of the action and milliseconds to process that information and make your move.

When you hesitate, that's usually when someone lands on the back of your legs and you get your arse carted off the field....I know

How does this post receive downvotes?

We are expecting cops to make quick decisions without the benefit of instant replay and now asking them to do trick shots while under threat of bodily harm?

To me, the charges were filed to create a story that supports the need to change from police to social workers. I'm not sure how a social worker can disarm a deranged person with a bat, but I would like to watch the attempt from a safe distance.

You know they teach that at LSU. They even bring Coach Mainieti in to give the students tips on how to neuter a person with a bat in their hands.

How fast do you think someone can close a 17 foot gap and swing a bat?

And I think he was actually much closer than 17’. The cop’s body cam has a wide angle lens which makes things appear further away than they actually are.

WTF? It’s not like a bat is a deadly weapon and can hurt you.

He was just going to softball practice and was murdered by that racist cop.

The guy wasn’t moving very well when the officer shot him.

I could have beat the shite out of that guy and taken his bat with relative ease in the shape he was in.

I’m not advocating for police to do that, as it exposes them to some danger. But how about we put in a little bit more time and effort in before we waste the skinny dude with the bat who can barely stand up straight.

Obviously he should have dropped the bat. The dude was high on something. Sad case. But was a death sentence the necessary outcome when he refused to cooperate?

it's obvious your wife is enjoying herself and your right we should have let him walk out of walmart with the bat and the tent after all walmart can afford it!

Sucks being a cop right now. You're damned if you do. Damned if you don't. I'd guess had the officer actually shot the leg, he'd have been reprimanded and disciplined for ignoring his firearms training.
I have to agree with you here.

I’m totally “Back the Blue,” and understand that shooting to maim instead of to kill is mostly not possible or practical, but in this instance, it could have been done.

I’m no world champion marksman, but I guarantee I could put a bullet in someone’s leg or hip from that distance.

Why would anyone want to be a policeman in today's environment? Non-compliance seems to be a trend these days and cops are being treated worst than soldiers returning home from Vietnam in the late 60's.

It's the lefts and democrats new recruiting policy... You know.. for better police officers...

Your post wasn't about this incident. It was a generalized statement about officer response...and it was ignorant; complete, unadulterated, horse shite.

Got it, dummy?
