I can’t wait to hear how tariffs on other countries which are largely consumption taxes are causing mass layoffs. The majority of job cuts are government related and are you arguing against spending cuts?

Do you think that if we doubled or tripled the corporate income tax, that it would impact job creation?

I would hope that you would say yes.

And, if you say yes, then you can extend that logical conclusion to tariffs. Yes, it is a consumption tax and not an income tax, but it is still a tax. And, whether we call them tariffs, or whatever, increased taxes negatively impact job creation.

It's so frickin weird how people can think these tariffs are magic money that don't cost anything or have any consequences.

Almost 70% of our economy is tied to consumer spending

And this guy is wondering how making things more expensive through tariffs might be damaging to the job market?

Right. Retirement accounts and the stock market (the fake economy) will be fine while everything else is in disrepair.

The amount of goal post moving that is already occurring to pretend that things are going great is comically bad.

lean on AI to replace human workers

Most companies don’t have enough of a handle on AI to replace workers with it. I don’t think that’s driving workforce reductions.

Not to worry, I was just told in this very thread that pulling billions out of the private sector is a bad thing, so we’re still on-track for a net positive.

I'd agree there. It might have some impact with tech firms that already had a ton of bloat but most companies aren't rushing to adopt AI solutions to replace humans. At least not yet.

Maybe he should stop acting like a globalist progressive and focus on fixing the economy here.

This makes zero sense in any thread.

In this thread, it is counter-factual.
