people committing suicide or being negligent does not mean guns should be confiscated
We aren't talking confiscation, we're talking restricting access. Learn the terms - you really sound like an idiot when you lack basic vocabulary around this issue.

also, this ignorant comment does not factor in crimes stopped by people with guns
A rare event that almost never happens. You are hundreds of times more likely to have a gun you own used on you or someone in your household than you ever are to use it in self-defense.

Every single comparable one.

It's not an appeal to emotion, it's a statement of fact that (easily) refutes the point.
In what world do you live in that this fact (17 dead) refutes the point that there are functional differences between civilian AR-15's and the military m16/m4?

Yet another preposterous post.
True, but preposterous. That's a new one from you.

So you want a full ban of semi-automatic weapons?
No, do you?

Because the point wasn't that there are functional differences, it was that one was purposed for civilians and thus should be legal. The 17 dead refute that.
Now that we're on the same page, which was it? The select fire option or the one without?

What exactly do you propose? Please be specific.

Again, the AR-15 is no different than a semi-automatic pistol, or most hunting rifles.
You want it banned, but you don't support the banning of semi-automatic weapons.
What exactly do you want to regulate?

Still not an important statistic in this discussion.

I've stated it numerous times in numerous other threads. It's easy to find.

An incredibly important statistic in a discussion on how to prevent gun deaths.

I just remembered, we can't have this discussion until you provide me your analysis of the Jan 2017 Epi Review meta-analysis.
Wrong. We've been over this. You owe me a paper on the current topic. It's late, but I'm patient.

Except for the extended magazine and other features that make it exceptionally good at its intended purpose - killing humans.

Including justifiable shootings and suicides is never important in this discussion.
Never.

Yet you focus on a rifle that accounts for such a small amount of death it's almost as statistically insignificant.
LINK
Handguns killed 5,562 people in 2014. Rifles accounted for 248 deaths.

And we'll continue to go over it until you produce the analysis you said you had ready, but we both know you're incapable of providing.
