This seems insanely haphazard and designed to fail

Israel wants Iran in civil war so they can eliminate them as a threat to their attempt at becoming a regional hegemon.

They don’t want a win, because a win would result in a pro western or moderate government free of western sanctions becoming far stronger than they are now.

They want chaos because in chaos they become relatively stronger and Iran becomes relatively weaker.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss this given the very obvious and demonstrable lack of planning of this war from Israel and the US beyond the initial assault.

Lack of planning I agree on

The idea of putting Ahmadinejad back in power is where I think things don't make sense

I read this story and listened to an interview of one of the writers this morning. I don’t believe it is true for a minute. It’s all made up. Prove me wrong. The NYT and other publications and media are great at writing fictional news stories. They defy any reasonable standards.

You mean warplans weren't able to be carried out 100% as planned? I, for one, am shocked. This has never before happened to a victor in the history of warfare. I don't know how our country will even survive after such a plan went awry in the midst of combat.

Yeah. So they bombed the place the dude they wanted to promote was staying at?

Seems like a bold move.
