Maybe I misspoke. There has to be a way to get a federal judge removed from the bench.

Yeah. Impeachment by the House followed by a trial in the Senate.

The court ruled on a habeas corpus petition filed by the ACLU on behalf of Hameed Khalid Darweesh and Sameer Abdulkhaleq Alshawi, who were denied entry to the US upon landing at JFK airport in New York City and detained indefinitely by Customs and Border Patrol. Darweesh spent a decade working for the United States military in Iraq as an interpreter and engineer and had been granted an entry visa after background checks; Alshawi had been granted a visa in order to join his wife and son who are already permanent residents of the US after their similar service with the US military.

Case couldn't have been brought by more deserving people. How do you justify not letting people in who helped the US overseas most probably putting at great risk their own and their families' lives.

The federal judge is part of a coequal branch of government. This can happen and nothing can be done about it.

All the talk about civics and you don't realize that Trump is the top Executive officer in this country. Do you really think his justice department is going to jail immigration officials for following Trumps order?

I'll give him credit. He seems confident with his assertions.

Judges make rulings on Executive Branch actions all the time.

This one is just flat wrong. The President has this authority per a specific statute, as well as his general executive authority.

People.

This ruling has probably already been appealed.

The Supreme Court has the final stay not some federal judge from NY.

I still don't think his stay will ever be enforced and I think if he or she has any skeletons they're about to be public.

Oh yeah. And the House is gonna be eager to impeach him, and no doubt the Senate will convict. Yeah...Congress is gonna jump all over that.

Since when is a federal judge part of the Justice Department? Since when does a judge have to go through the Justice Department to issue a bench warrant for contempt of court?

Then he should be put in jail for contempt, just like any other citizen.

This is an "interim" order, which means the government can't appeal directly. The government has to wait for a final decision, which typically takes the federal courts six months to a year. Even if the court expedites this case, the government probably won't have a chance to appeal until March or April at the earliest.

Until Trump gets his guy on SCOTUS, would you bet on him winning? I sure as hell wouldn't.

Does Donnelly sound like a Hispanic name to you?

FYI - in large cities with large number of Irish immigrants, many non-irish change their name to get elected.

One of the many tricks that usually liberals use to get power.

He can get Obama's cell for the multiple times he was found in contempt.

Even so she'll be roasted in the court of public opinion and will eventually take early retirement or some such.
