If that's what is considered science then I should just go ahead and off myself now

Now this I agree with, but not from a religious perspective. I do think our society is undergoing a warped aesthetic sensibility right now. Ugliness is being exalted and celebrated.
I see it as a moral issue due to the rejection of God and an acceptance of human autonomy and moral relativism based on a worldview of naturalistic, materialistic humanism.

Well, pretty much, even if that's a harsh way to put it. Allowing the deconstruction of every long-standing tradition or social order doesn't exactly make for a stable place.

You know what, the more I think about it, I apologize for laughing at you. I think you're right to a certain extent, and I say that as someone who is not particularly religious at all.

I don't think people living their lives and speaking their minds is a bad thing. Even when I disagree with them.

It depends on how the effects are received/mitigated. In the case of allowing the most subversive folks in charge of educating the 'best and brighest', I think it can have a deleterious effect.

Bill Nye certainly didn't believe in many fluid spectrums back in the 90s:

Gender is determined by genetics

I don't have the answer. I'm only a clinical doctor, I didn't study oncology.

Because there isn't one that any of us should ever want.

Yeah my theory on it is engineers are basically shielded from social issues unless they willingly seek them out, unlike a lot of other fields where it smacks you in the face at every turn. So it makes sense that he went with the gender is determined by genetics route when that is the established science of the 1990s.

Once he became a media icon he started hanging with people that helped him get more exposure to start talking about issues like global warming. Bet hanging around those types long enough he either started believing this nonsense or saw some money in it and is exploiting that.

Either way, what he is doing now is not "science". He shouldn't be able to just call himself a "scientist" when speaking about anything other than issues directly pertaining to some aspect of his education in mechanical engineering.

I'm sure there are answers that I'd like. I just haven't found them, and I sure as shite haven't come up with them.

Having a guy with a degree in chemical engineering and a children's science show set the tone for all scientific research for the entire country is the place to start.

I wonder how many scientists watch his show and take notes before they head to work...
