There has been some speculation this is a bargaining chip on sanctuary cities.

Moreover, get a congressman off their arse to change the law

You’d have to change the law on the federal level sooner or later. If Trump is the catalyst to making weed legal nationwide then CNN would probably outlaw it from their New Years Eve celebration next year.

That^.
Actually, it would be much easier than that. Simply amend the existing statute to remove pot from Schedule 1. It would no longer be a federal issue and states could do as they please.

This!

Both houses of Congress pass a bill. The president signs bill, or Congress overturns veto. Bill now law. Attorney General now enforces the new law.

Go to internet and watch old PBS cartoon “I’m just a bill”!

Why advocate lawlessness when the “majority of Americans” want legalized pot?

This is the only thing that makes sense.

I hate this 'selective prosecution' bullshite.

Best way to get rid of a bad law is to rigorously enforce it.

I am OK with keeping all drug illegal - even MJ.

But if the public wants to legitimize it, then change the f'n law!!!!

I haven't seen where Chuck and Nancy have commented on this.

CA may want to hold the monopoly on this.

Exactly, until the law is changed pot is illegal.

People need to obey the law until it's changed.

Some people ignore it being illegal and partake (at risk) anyway simply because they don't seem the law worthy. This is why people get locked up, for not following the law.

Don't like a certain law, write, push, protest or try other methods to get the law changed.

Yep all of this feel good stuff like illegals, legalized pot, etc...is great to turn a blind eye to for folks until their family is victimized by this activity then it isn't such a "cool" thing after all. Go bury a child who was taken out by an auto accident from a stoned driver or a drunk illegal and then it is easy to figure out why the laws were in place.

i honestly think if legalizing weed was put on the national ballot it would be voted to legalize it.

likewise if politicians got a "real" picture of how many of their voters supported legalizing it, they would change the law in short order.

just like with most things, the special interests make sure they keep the false image going that the vast majority of america still wants it illegal
