It would also be a good time to not release his taxes, to troll Stormy and her porn lawyer, to deport some illegal Mexicans, to defund some Progressive sacred cow, to propose a new Trump property in Moscow, to grab Jim Acosta by the pussy and to announce the first annual 3 day Trumpfest.

frick no. Why the hell would I? I’m well educated and successful in my career, so I would have no financial incentive. So just to engage in a bullshite forever war to continue feeding the beast that is the military industrial complex?

I’ll pass. I also don’t walk around like I’m some intimidating military badass, so I’m not sure what your point was in the first place.

Josh, you have to know how desperately I've wanted to like you all these years, but you can't help yourself in times like these. There are extraordinarily well educated and successful folks who also have military experience.

This inane, insulting bullshite that certain elements of the libertarian movement direct towards the military is off-putting, to say the least. Deuce Midnight is one of your brethren, so to speak, a consistent libertarian candidate voter as an adult, would probably agree with you on 90% of political issues, but is military. Very successful.

It's dangerous to make enemies out of potential allies.

I apparently should have been more clear: I cast no aspersions at anyone in the military. There are brilliant, talented, successful individuals in every branch. I have friends and colleagues who have served. I have no doubt that every single one of them has their reasons for serving. None seem to have regretted doing so.

My vitriol comes from a place of frustration over the implication that anyone who has not chosen to serve in the military is somehow deficient. I don’t mock anyone for serving in the military. I don’t mock Trump for not serving in the military. I do mock Trump for puffing out his chest and trying to steal some bit of “but I really wanted to!” valor.

I genuinely and sincerely apologize to anyone who has ever, in this thread or any other, interpreted my posts as disparaging the individual members of our armed forces.

I appreciate all the clarification. You do what you want to do, baw, but I would have just stood pat on this. When someone said, "If you didn't serve, silence" - a better response would have been something to the effect of, "Well, Trump didn't serve either, but I don't act like I did." That's a better defense of your position, IMHO, than suggesting those who served did so solely for vulgar reasons.

Sure, I availed myself of the educational opportunities. And I worked it out over the decades into a very nice part-time job. But virtually everything good that happened to me was because of or bolstered by my military service. That's just a fact. And I'm not offended by Trump's pro-military attitude, just FTR.

Your suggested response is a good one. In hindsight, I wish I had said just that. But to further clarify, I’m not suggesting that anyone who serves does so for “vulgar” reasons. Does the military attract some who have few other options? Sure. But it also attracts some of the best and brightest. I was fairly heavily pushed towards pursuing JAG at one point. Never seriously considered it, because the military isn’t for me. And because the financial incentives weren’t sufficient for me, I would have had to firmly have believed in our military’s current mission. Considering I’m not sure if I can even articulate what that mission might be at this point, I certainly can’t claim to be bought in.

Going back and rereading my post, I can understand why you’re reading it the way you are, but that interpretation was not my intention and does not reflect my beliefs.

Your bias is showing. You perceive it how you perceive it. Based upon what he has done for the military. That chest puff could be respect for something he deeply respect. Once you take your blinders off maybe there are multiple ways to view an instance. Your reality isn’t mine. Emotion clouds everything so remove it. Things get easier. Your welcome

Sounds like it to me. Sounds like the ol "I thought about it but wasn't sure I could hack it so now I rationalize why I bitched out" response to me come back at me with a response about how successful you are next
