And it's not going to change unless I decide that's what I want which for right now, I don't. I've only got 10 more years to retirement.
To be fair, I'm a contractor but there's no way they'll be able to successfully force everyone to come into an office without dishing out more money. And hardly anyone will quit just over being forced to come in. If it came down to it, I would force them to fire me and collect a lot of severance pay plus unemployment. No biggie.
In our case, we have very limited office space. Plus, our owner knows we get more done remotely.
I did come in yesterday and ate some BBQ catered for lunch. I like to hang out and say hi to everyone in the office but honestly, there's not enough room for everyone in our town to come in.
Plus if you have design and development work to do, you know most of that is done alone. It's impossible to concentrate in a noisy office to the level that you need to.
It is not the net savings you guys think it is. And Trump and Elon know this.

The vacation is coming to an end. Covid has been over for years.

Actually, my vacation starts tomorrow. I don't have to be back at my home office desk until Jan 13 2025.

I think that's the point man.
They can go find another WFH job, it's a free country, but I'm not paying anyone to work from home, in my business or with my tax dollars.
We have orders of magnitude too many government workers. Making a third of them quit because they don't want to get dressed seems like the obvious place to start.
If other companies want to pay people to wash their clothes, that's fine, it's a free country and free market.

It’s pretty simple if you are a gov employee you come in or you’re fired.
The point isn’t to keep people it’s to make them self remove which is cheaper. We want less gov employees and this is how you do it. Then you start to hand out severances to the rest we need to cut.

I dont pay anyone to work from home in my business. It's not exactly a trade that can work from home to be fair.
And I will not vote for anyone who supports WFH,
So far so Good. People that won power seem to align with me. Hopefully they can accomplish it.

Which is not going to happen. They'll hold on for a very long time. It's not worth it really.
Now if you want to talk about cutting positions, then that's the way to go. There are way too many duplicate positions in the government. What I'm saying this is all feel good sham for conservatives who don't understand the dynamics of remote work in 2024.

Nice cope.
Your life is about to change significantly. Either you are going back to a 9-5 in office job, or you will have to find a new job. Best start coming to terms with this reality

You are full of shite and trolling.
You are a contractor for a company, but think you will get severance? You are as stupid as you sound.

Bye bitch. Not paying you and 100,000 like you is saving.
ETA: and you're a contractor? They don't have to fire you. They'll just end the contract or threaten your company to end the contract and your boss will fire you.

Our company is a federal contractor. We do indispensable work. When there's shutdowns we don't get shut down. Anyways, I won't be coming into an office unless I want to.

no one cares about what the private industry does.
do you not see the difference between federal and private?
