Because Trump's base isn't interested in conservatism or winning. And when the posterchild of your base are the Laura Loomers of the world, no thanks.
They're all a bunch aggrieved, bitter, children who never accept responsibility for their own failures so they blame others for their own piss poor lot in life.

The GOP has a Trump problem. Had he not won the primary in 2016 the party would have reformed itself into something much better than the clown car we have now.
