Back from a vaca in Scandinavia. Beautiful countries. Visiting one site, we hired a guide; cute little 20-something with a walking boot, a crutch, and obviously uncomfortable getting around. I asked what happened to her foot.
She broke it in February. It "rebroke" as soon as she was out of her boot; basically a nonhealing fracture. The treatment is surgery with a screw placement. Not in Norway though. They put her back in the boot and will see her again . . . in October.
Just an anecdote. Really sad though.
But it is free!

I have a friend that was stationed in Holland for work. Starting having stomach issues and he began to think he was developing cancer based on symptoms. Went to the Dutch doctor in March and he scheduled a colonoscopy in JUNE. He said to hell with that and flew to US prepped for his scope one day and had it the next. Turns out all he had was some sort of infection he probably got from eating raw oysters.
In May he got a notice that his colonoscopy was postponed until August.

Canadians will tell you the same stories too. Moral of the story: You don’t want the government deciding your health. But it’s freeeeee people are too stupid to realize it’s coming out of their paychecks.

I’ve sat many hours conversing with Canadians waiting to see the neurologist in Atlanta because Chiari Malformation isn’t urgent enough in Toronto

We should bring her to America.

Can’t do that, she’s not MS-13 or a Mooslim.

Throw into the scenario of socialized medicine the pure hate that exists in the US today because of polarization. Do we really want Joe or Jane Bureaucrat deciding who gets life and death services? (This cuts both ways - Dem & Repub; black, brown, & white; Christian, Muslim, atheist, etc etc.)

Actually it isn’t coming out of the bottom 40% of wage earners checks
Which is why they are for it

Wrong! FICA says hey yo!
Senor what is this FICA you speak of?

The health insurance portion of FICA is only 1.45% of your pay
It goes to Medicare which they aren’t receiving any benefits from until they are on average 65 or older
The rest of FICA is basically SS
But again the bottom 40% aren’t the ones who will pay any of the short falls
The bottom 40% get almost all of their federal income tax back too so in effect they aren’t paying in to SS or Medicare and are being subsidized by the rest of us

They don't have Fosamax in Norway? The stuff will heal you right up.

Not in Norway.
The lower and middles classes pay a lot more in taxes compared to the US. It’s another pesky fact that the Bernie Sanders of the world leave out.

Since we are the greatest country on the planet we should have universal health care with the same type of service you get with good private insurance or medicare.
Those of you who don't want universe converge don't believe in the greatness of this country enough.

Not because of universal healthcare.
