I see where you are coming from. I think the paper realized it lost its unbiased position by seemingly picking sides by exposing protestors.

Appears they may have used good faith to get inside the story then turned on that.

Kind of a big deal in journalism. On a larger scale, but the same shite Billy Bush lost his career for.

Until people stop apologizing for stuff that there is no need to apologize for and just make some people realize, they have to suck it up, crying will only get worse.

Which is why I don't vote Democrat

On top of not understanding economics, they've become the moral majority and feel government should be the though police.

Congrats, I guess

Yeah, me too. The article has a link to the actual editorial in the second paragraph. Then, it quotes more than half of the NW editorial. Highly unusual behavior for a "rightwing clickbait" article or any clickbait for that matter.

On xenophobic, homophobic and racist ideas? I will accept your congratulations. Why do the Republicans always want to deny certain groups of people their basic rights?

Which ones? The ones who were photographed disrupting free speech?

Northwesterners had to work hard to successfully make folks from Southeastern appear to be smart and normal.

And some that were called afterwards and quoted.

Technically, the newspaper moved to we will use our sources and name names to get you expelled if you choose to participate in the protest.

The statement was in reference that the newspaper shouldn't be playing that part.

They mentioned the one called afterwards later asked to have their name removed, suggesting they agreed at one point to be quoted.

On the first point, it sounds like you’re ok with a line being drawn at protecting personal privacy for those who disturb the peace and oppose free speech and will disobey laws and policies to do so.

Again, this is false.

Participation is not grounds for being in violation of the policy. But I think you’re aware of that.

If a media outlet wants to be unbiased I don't think they should use ulterior motives, be unbiased observers.

Especially, don't be a wolf in sheeps clothing.

I referenced the Billy Bush/Trump thing earlier. I get these are different scales, but the same actions.

That is along the lines of what the statement said.

It is impossible to remove your political views from this, but you should try.

Not a peaceful protest, but this protest ended up not being peaceful.

ETA: or I guess I should say ended up breaking the policy

I think the students should be held responsible for their actions.

I also respect the newspaper for realizing they may have crossed some line by asking for an inside look then burning that goodwill.
