This is interesting because of the location of Henderson County. That county is right outside of very progressive Asheville, NC.

Officials stated that people with law enforcement and military backgrounds will serve in all public schools, and be required to pass rigorous training and psychological testing.

In my little county here deep in the WNC mountains, we’ve been discussing veteran and prior law enforcement volunteering in a similar capacity. This seems to be the best option moving forward and allows teachers to teach while those with extensive gun training to at least be available and on site in the event something happens.

Terrible, terrible over-reaction. Schools are about the safest places you can be. Deaths in schools are on a downward trend for decades.

This is an over reaction, but a blanket gun ban is not? Just yesterday we saw what a good guy with a gun can do in these situations. I would happily volunteer my time at my sons school.

If it's good enough for our banks then it's good enough for other places valuables are collectively located, i.e., your kids.

True, the city and the gutterpunks are regressives, but it's conservative where normal people live.

It’s almost as if it is not really about protecting kids at all. Just the latest excuse to limit individual liberty.

Then why are regressives on the left pushing for gun bans?

If it can save just one life...

I wouldn’t define it as conservative. Deeply religious and love their guns, yes. Also love them some government.

It’s refreshing to see the progressive influence of Asheville hasn’t spread. At least in regards to gun rights.

Henderson County is very conservative. Actually, most of WNC is very conservative. People mistakenly think the mountains are full of hippies - and there are a bunch - but Asheville being the largest city leads people to believe that. Asheville is a progressive shithole.

Agreed. I have family in Asheville. The City would be nice if they would clean the trash and the bums out.

I must have missed you in all the threads about the Florida students pointing out that their position was retarded based on the above reality.

I live deep in WNC. I wouldn’t describe many people as conservative. At least not in the sense of a Reagan, limited government type. Unless the qualification is god fearing. Many are very much in favor of government because of the rampant poverty and fail to realize it was government that caused the factories to leave.

Oh, so they're employing the Israeli solution to violence in schools.

Get back to me when a North Carolina county passes a blanket gun ban.

I'm sorry, has a policy been passed into practice and/or law that I'm not aware of? It's very obvious that even well-intentioned high school students are clueless dummies...being egged on by less well-intentioned adults.

This thread is about a stupid decision by a specific county.
