You do realize that many ARs are MILSPEC and IDENTICAL to those M4s, minus the ability to shoot 3 round bursts on an "Auto" setting, right?
Exact same 5.56 NATO round, and same rate of fire on semi-automatic. If you don't know what your talking about, then please don't talk.

ETA: People who want to ban them seem to say the AR-15 is a weapon of war. As far as I know it isn't. Is there a single military in America that outfits its soldiers with AR-15s?

MILSPEC is more of a dimensional specification to ensure uniformity.
