Bloomberg Article

The U.S. recorded a $215 billion budget deficit in February -- its biggest in six years -- as revenue declined.
Fiscal income dropped to $156 billion, down 9 percent from a year earlier, while spending rose 2 percent to $371 billion, the Treasury Department said on Monday. The deficit for the fiscal year that began in October widened to $391 billion, compared with a $351 billion shortfall the same period a year earlier, according to the Treasury report.

The data underscore concerns by some economists that Republican tax cuts enacted this year could increase the U.S. government debt load, which has surpassed $20 trillion. The tax changes are expected to reduce federal revenue by more than $1 trillion over the next decade, while a $300 billion spending deal reached by Congress in February could push the deficit higher.

Honestly, few people care as long as their tribe is the one running up the tab. It has been that way "forever".

Thank Obama ... the fricking traitorous douchebag.
And it will continue to rise for decades thanks to both Bush and Obama ... but mostly Obama.

If my wife spent 100k on credit cards in year one....she doesn't get "credit" for spending ONLY 40k in year 5

One side promises to cut military, the other promises to cut welfare, and somehow neither ever gets done. RIP U.S. dollar

I'm not arguing that the Gov't doesn't spend to much but if we are just stating the facts then the deficit from the time he took office to the time he left went down and down by a significant amount.
Nobody is talking about "credit". I stated a fact. If your wife spends 100K in year one and 40K in year five her spending has gone down.

Spending money is so much more fun than not spending it.
So many show up in Washington with Jefferson Smith level passion on cutting spending then after a few days with the unlimited Black Card they turn into a Kardashian on Rodeo Drive.

It went down during his 2nd term and again began to climb in 2016
