Social Security should have never been taxed from day one.

Big nothingburger… Goes away in a few years. Phased limit low.. 60 percent of the people already below limits and not paying taxes on ss.. this increase raises it to about 80 percent.

My parents and why wife’s parents, all in their 70’s will benefit from the tax savings.

Talking to my father in law and he said is the equivalent of getting around two more moths of SS checks a year.

And it goes away in 2028. Seniors will see a 15% increase in benefits then see a cut taking it all back in 28 during an election year. Seniors vote in high numbers. Either the tax cut becomes permanent or they are voting Rs to make it happen.

Why the hell would seniors pay taxes on earnings while working then have to pay taxes on SS after retiring anyway.

“Talking to my father in law and he said is the equivalent of getting around two more moths of SS checks a year.”

That is good for him.. I may be wrong but this is a 6k reduction of income that you pay taxes on.. assume he is in 15 percent tax bracket.. sort have to be there to stay under income limit..

So this is 900 dollars back from taxes not paid on the 6k.. your fil is getting 450 a month is social security?

Glad you are there to help him out..

Government ponzi schemes should be deincentivized.

It's gonna be sad in 2034 (or sooner) when there's a 30% cut in benefits overnight because the program is broke.

Loved the man but he wasn’t perfect by far. Especially that amnesty BS.

He allowed the Dept. of Education to be codified under his watch also, instead of shutting it down.

He also gave us the gigantic waste of money known as "The War on Drugs" along with starting the cottage industry of employer drug testing.

He was a good POTUS, but he made a few major mistakes.

Hey coz…..FU. This will help my 83 year old mom in a big way. She is on a fixed income and her budget is very tight. She happens to be lucky to have multiple kids that are more than willing to help her out.

Not sure if you heard me earlier, FU.

You are correct. Was at the onset we talked about it but the tax break was just an increase in the deduction from what I just read

Couples over 65 will get the $31,500 standard deduction (was increased $1500 in the BBB) and an additional “senior” standard deduction added of $12,000. So no taxes on their first $43,500 of income. Not an elimination of the taxes on their SS payments.
